Since the Communist Party of China started birth control in 1979, China's population structure has been changing as fast as its quantitative expansion. Economic growth and improvement in medical standards have led to an increase in the elderly, while a decline in the fertility rate has led to a decline in the working population. It is feared to hamper the chinese economy's long-term growth. The study analyzed the effect of China's change in the young and old proportion rate on macroeconomic variables. The results of the study predict that China's rapid aging of the population will rapidly reduce the percentage of the working age population and dissipate the effects of the firstdemographic dividend. This means that the current high rate of economic growth is unlikely to continue. Ultimately, efforts are needed to create a second demographic dividend effect by increasing participation of the elderly in economic activities to limit economic growth due to the aging population.

중국은 출산율 감소와 기대수명 증가가 급속히 진행되면서 2000년대 초반에 고령화사회가 되었다. 중국의 인구고령화는 단시일 내에 빠르게 전개되어 거시경제에 예측불허의 충격을 주고 있다. 이에 중국 정부는 2016년부터 산아제한을 1명에서 2명으로 완화했으나 별다른 성과를 거두지 못하고 있으며 이에 따라 향후에도 중국의 인구구조 변화는 더욱 가속화될 것으로 전망된다. 이에 본 연구는 시계열 자료를 이용하여 중국의 청소년층 인구비율 및 노년층 인구비율 변화가 거시경제 변수에 미치는 영향을 도출하였다. 그 결과 그 동안 중국경제 성장을 견인했던 1차 인구배당 효과가 거의 끝났으며, 고령화 사회에 맞는 새로운 산업구조와 정책으로 전환해야 2차 인구배당 효과를 시현하여 장기적으로 성장을 지속할 수 있음을 파악하였다.
