‘Ethnotelling’ for the Rural Community Research : Korean Hwanggol Village Case

This study calls the new type of ethnography as ethnotelling. Ethnotelling is a mixed research method of ethnology and storytelling. As a condition of ethnotelling, it is essential for ethnotelling to have research local area within a regional boundary. The process of ethnotelling contains fieldwork, building materials as the ethnography step, and determining typology of the storytelling step, and as well as, investigating and building regional cultural resources to create cultural values. By giving the example of using this new method, this study highlights three points of the ethnography tool. First, ethnotelling must lively describe the spot. Second, ethnotelling should contain diversities. Third, ethnotelling should have narratives. Especially, this study describe Hwanggol village located in Gumdan of Incheon, Korea.
