The purpose of this study was to analyze the tendency of inventions of female inventors by classifying 130 points of winning works from 2014 to 2016 of KIWIE and to analyze the perception of inventions of female inventors. In order to analyze the tendency of inventions of KIWIE's winning works, KIWIE's award-winning works were analyzed according to the three kinds of inventions classification: existence of inventions, use of inventions, and inventor's nationality. The first classification criterion, the existence of inventions was the concrete and the intangible of the invention. As a second classification criterion, the use of inventions was classified as household goods and industrial goods. In the third classification criterion, inventor's nationality, Korea was the overwhelming majority of the inventor’s nationalities. Most of the inventor's nationalities were concentrated in Asia, with some in Europe and Africa. In order to analyze the perception of inventions of female inventors, the results of an e-mail survey were analyzed. In a questionnaire asking about difficulties in inventing, ‘the lack of a system to encourage the invention of female inventors’ accounted for the highest percentage. Asked about the way how to overcome difficulties in the process of inventing, 43.4 percent of the respondents said they had overcome with the help of family and friends. Therefore, it is necessary for female inventors to approach the invention with a broader view, without limiting the scope of the invention to a particular type of invention or specific use. And it is also necessary to promote the contest actively and take measures to encourage inventions and exhibitions considering the diversity of cultures and local specialties.

현재의 여성발명가의 발명이 나아가야 할 방향 설정의 기초 자료를 제공하고, 더 나아가, 여성발명가의 발명의 증진, 전체 발명 분야의 활성화를 이루는 데에 기여하고자, 대한민국 세계여성발명대회의 수상작(대상, 우수상, 특별상) 130점의 발명 경향을 분석하고, 대한민국 세계여성발명대회 수상자 중 설문에 응답한 여성발명가들의 발명에 대한 인식을 분석하였다. 대한민국 세계여성발명대회 수상작의 발명 경향을 발명품 분류 기준에 따라 분석하였다. 첫 번째 분류 기준인 발명품의 형태 유무는 유형과 무형으로 분류하였으며, 구체물(유형) 발명은 국내에서는 증가, 국외에서는 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 두 번째 분류 기준인 발명품의 용도는 생활 용품과 산업 용품으로 분류하였으며, 생활 용품 발명은 국내와 국외 모두 증가 혹은 감소의 일정한 변화 양상이 없었다. 세 번째 분류 기준인 발명가 국적에서는 전체 발명가 국적 중 한국이 압도적으로 많았고, 대부분 아시아에 집중되어 있었으며, 유럽 및 아프리카 지역도 일부 있었다. 여성발명가의 발명에 대한 인식은 이메일 설문 조사 결과를 분석하였다. 발명하면서 힘들거나 어려웠던 점으로 여성발명가의 발명 장려를 위한 제도의 부족이 가장 높았고, 발명을 하는 과정에서 어려움을 극복했던 방법으로는 가족 및 지인들의 도움이, 발명 후 달라진 점으로는 자아성취감의 향상이 가장 높았다. 따라서 여성발명가들은 발명의 범위를 제한하지 않고 보다 넓은 시각으로 발명에 접근할 필요가 있으며, 여성발명가의 발명을 장려하기 위해서는 적극적인 발명대회의 홍보, 발명 및 출품 의욕 고취를 위해 대책의 마련, 여성발명가 지원을 위한 정책 및 발명품 사업화 과정을 조력할 수 있는 기관의 설립, 보육 시설의 철저한 관리와 운영, 여성이 하는 발명에 대한 사회적 인식의 개선이 요구된다.
