With the increase of researched in lifelong education, meta researches also has been increased in Korea. Meta research such as research trend and meta analysis may integrate the research results and report the directions for researchers and policy-makers. But until now in the area of lifelong education, we would not find a articles and discussions about the methodology of meta research of in Korea. The purpose of this study was to investigate the research trends of the meta researches in lifelong education. For the purpose, 110 articles were collected from Korean Journals using KERIS(Korea Education and Research Information Service) DB. The findings were as in the followings: First, the frequency of the articles was increased nowadays. Especially, since 2011 the frequency was rapidly increased. Second, main theme of the articles were lifelong education, vocational education & training, human resource development, program, adult learner, and so on. Third, about 40% of the articles did not suggested and explained research problem, sampling procedure and criteria, sophisticated discussion, appendix for frequency table, etc. And forth, especially in the articles using quantitative meta analyses and needs/delphi researches did not supply the sufficient explanations about the methodology. Based on the findings, conclusions and implications were discussed.

평생교육분야 연구의 성장과 함께 메타 연구도 함께 증가하고 있다. 동향 분석이나 메타 분석과 같은 기법이 적용된 메타 연구는 분석한 연구 결과를 통합적으로 이해하게 도와준다. 그러나 아직까지 평생교육분야의 메타 연구에 대한 방법론적 검토나 논의가 충분하게 이루어지지 못하였다. 이에 본 연구에서는 평생교육 분야에서 메타 연구를 실시한 학술지 게재 논문을 수집하여 메타 연구 방법의 적용 동향을 실증적으로 분석하는 것을 목적으로 설정하였다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위하여 메타 연구 방법에 대한 이론적 검토를 통해 분석틀을 구성하였다. 그리고 학술지 논문을 검색하여 최종적으로 110개의 논문을 분석대상 논문으로 선정․분석하였다. 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 평생교육, 인적자원개발, 직업교육, 프로그램, 성인학습자 등 하나의 영역이나 주요 이슈 전체를 조망하는 연구가 다수였다. 둘째, 메타 연구를 수행하기 위한 방법 중 일부를 제외하면 연구문제 제시, 표본 선정 및 분석, 논의와 부록 등 관련 내용을 논문에 제시하는 비율이 60%대 이하였다. 셋째, 메타 연구 방법별로는 양적 메타 분석과 요구/델파이 분석에서 연구방법에 대한 설명이 충분하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 분석결과를 토대로 관련 논의와 시사점을 제시하였다.
