The Effects of Parent Support on Career Decision and Career Preparation of Out-of-School Adolescents - Mediated Effect of Self-Esteem and Self-Efficacy -

The purpose of this study is to explore the effects of parental supports on career decisions and career preparation of out-of-school adolescents through self-esteem and self-efficacy in structural equation analysis. As the result of the study, first, Parent support directly affects out-of-school adolescents' career decision. Second, Parent support has a positive effect on out-of-school adolescents' career decision indirectly through helping them improve self-esteem and self-efficacy. Third, parent support directly affects out-of-school adolescents' career preparation. Fourth, however, parent support did not indirectly influence out-of-school adolescents' career preparation through self-esteem and self-efficacy. Based on the results, suggesting that a parent education program that can improve parent support and a program that can build a positive relationship between parents and adolescent should be provided at the out-of-school adolescent support center. Also, it suggested that programs for out-of school adolescents to develop self -esteem and self-efficacy should be provided at the out-of-school youth support center. Implications and limitations of the study were suggested, and then a follow-up study was proposed.
