The reaction in Russia to the 100th anniversary of the Russian Revolution is much cooler than abroad. The academic nostalgia for the Soviet in the 1990s was dominated by an economic and political analysis of the reason why the Soviet Union was dismantled, but the answer remains unfinished yet. Cultural nostalgia for the Soviet, which is strengthened in the 21st century, is divided into two types: the official demythization led by government and the mythization by the private leadership. Official nostalgia, which idolizes Soviet leaders such as Stalin, loses the status of myth by serving in the justification of the current regime. On the other hand, informal nostalgia, which restores the memory of the Soviet Union and maintains its distance from the present, is promoted to mythology and acquires universal meaning. Russia's economic growth rate will be the biggest factor in the future struggle between the two nostalgia.
