Korea is a fiercely competitive society. That is why some people call it anger society, winner-dominated society, elbow society, even cliff society. This fierce competition drives the members to extreme limits and eventually suicide. Moreover, postmodern society has lost its moral standards and has the premise of evil. Absolute truth, absolute morality became impossible society. There, people are becoming more and more individualized and creating a personal-centered world. In this way, anxiety dominates this society. The comfort of these people is growing. Especially, it is also becoming an industrialization in the capitalist society and it is increasing its influence. Consumers are made more and more, and society is becoming more and more an answer. Religion has a functional understanding. Among the various functions of religion, psychological functions are becoming more important these days. Especially in this confusion and unusual affairs that society is experiencing in the process of change, it also relieves tension in situations that can not predict the future due to despair, rewards the deprived mind from the deprived reality, and provides identity and belonging feeling . The church should be a church for others with its identity as a priest country. The role of the church becomes clear. In the Republic of Korea, money is spent for false comfort, and the church conveys true comfort from the sky to these people who have fallen to the consumer. In this society where consolation is now being sought, the way in which the church communicates with the public through this society is the comfort of the true meaning of the church. To this end, ministry of healing and counseling is required. Now the ministry of the healing and counseling of the church should be led to the public field.

대한민국은 치열한 경쟁사회이다. 그래서 혹자들은 이를 분노사회, 승자독식사회, 팔꿈치사회 심지어 절벽사회라고 하고 있다. 이러한 치열한 경쟁은 구성원들을 극한으로 내몰며 결국 자살로 내몰고 있다. 더구나 포스트모던 사회는 도덕적 기준을 잃어버리고 악의 전제를 가지고 있다. 절대적 진리도, 절대적 도덕도 불가능한 사회가 된 것이다. 거기에 사람들은 점점 더 개인주의화 되며 개인중심의 세계를 만들어 가고 있다. 이런 가운데 불안은 이 사회를 지배하고 있다. 이 가운데 이 사람들을 위로하는 일이 커지고 있다. 특히 위로 역시 이 자본주의 사회에서 하나의 산업화가 되어서 그 영향력을 더욱 키워가고 있다. 소비층을 더욱 만들어 가며 점점 사회는 위로만이 해답이 되어가고 있다. 종교에는 기능적 이해가 있다. 종교의 여러 기능 중에 요즘은 심리적 기능이 더욱 중요하게 되어 가고 있다. 특히 이 사회가 변동의 과정에서 겪고 있는 혼란과 비정상적인 일들 가운데, 또한 절망으로 인해서 미래를 예측할 수 없는 상황 가운데 긴장을 해소하고, 박탈된 현실에서 빼앗긴 마음을 보상해 주고, 정체성과 소속감을 마련해 주는 것이다. 교회는 제사장 나라로서 그 정체성을 가지고 타인을 위한 교회가 되어야 한다. 교회의 역할은 명확해진다. 대한민국에서 거짓 위로를 위해 돈을 내어미는 소비자로 전락해 버린 이 백성들을 향해서 하늘로부터 내려오는 참된 위로를 전하는 것이다. 이제 위로를 찾는 이 사회에서 교회가 공공성을 가지고 이 사회와 소통하는 길은 교회가 진정한 의미의 위로자가 되는 것이다. 이를 위해서 치유와 상담의 목회가 요구되고 있다. 이제 교회가 가지고 있는 치유와 상담의 사역을 공공의 장으로 이끌어야 할 것이다.
