This paper aims to study sentence adverbs. Sentence adverbs are adverbs which have following conditions: Syntactically, they have effect scopes for the whole sentence; Semantically, they represent the subjectivity of a speaker ; Morphologically, they are free forms, not adverbial ones. Sentence adverbs can be classified into concord adverbs, evaluation adverbs and modality adverbs. Classification criterion is the correlation with modality. Concord adverbs are adverbs which correlate with specified elements of the sentence and do not have effect scopes for the whole sentence. Evaluation adverbs are adverbs which have effect scopes for the whole sentence. They represent the evaluation of a speaker for a state of things and are used only in declarative sentences. Modality adverbs are adverbs which correlate with modality. Modality adverbs represent the same modalities as those of the sentences without any relations with forms of the predicates. That is, modality adverbs must have semantic compatibilities which do not contradict the modalities of the sentences
