A study of [siteiru], contemporary Japanese and [ko iss], [e iss], [ess], contemporary Korean - focus on adjectival verb -
초록
영어
This study is a contrastive research about the system of [siteiru], contemporary Japanese and [ko iss], [e iss], [ess],contemporary Korean. Previous researches say that there are connections with [action continuation] of [siteiru] in contemporary Japanese and [ko iss] in contemporary Korean, and [result continuation] of [siteiru] in contemporary Japanese and [e iss] in contemporary Korean. However some verbs in Korean, having translations of [siteiru] in Japanese, have [ess]. I agree with Doh(2002) that this verb, which have [ess] in form and [continuation] in meaning have adjectival feature. So I borrow Doh(2002)’s naming. In this research, I claim that there is adjectival verb in Korean and I think that is the key to explain why Korean can express [ess] in the present time. This research progresses as below. In the chapter 1, I explain the purpose of this research and I introduce previous researches in the chapter 2. In the chapter 3, I consider adjectival verb and I divide adjectival verb into two verb group, one is verbs which can take one form; [ess], the other is verbs which can take two forms; [e iss], [ess] in the chapter 4. And I summarize my opinion of this research in the end.
