Purpose: This study was done to analyze the effects of rehabilitation therapy on balance in the elderly with total knee arthroplasty through meta-analysis of randomized or non-randomized studies published or unpublished in Korean between 1980 and 2011. Methods: From electronic database 646 studies were retrieved, of which 4 studies met the inclusion criteria. The data were analyzed using the RevMan 5.2 program of the Cochrane library. Results: Effect sizes of rehabilitation therapy on balance were significant with ES=4.20 for static balance, ES=4.91 for dynamic balance. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that rehabilitation therapy is effective in improving balance in the elderly with total knee arthroplasty. FRT and BBS are safe tools for balance measurement.
