This paper consists of a comparative study of Husserl's phenomenology and seon master Daehaeng’s Dharma talks. This article focuses on examining methodological similarities for realizing ‘transcendental ego’ and ‘Hanmaum Juingong’ which contain the fundamental principles of Husserl's phenomenology and seon master Daehaeng’s Dharma talks. In this paper, focus on both the Husserl’s phenomenological methodology for exploring the transcendental ego such as epoche·phenomenological reduction· intuition of essences, and the theory of Hanmaum practice suggested by seon master Daehaeng in order to realize the Hanmaum Juingong such as lay down(entrust)·return·observe. Through the examination of the similarity between phenomenological methodology and the theory of Hanmaum practice, like as ‘epoche-lay down(entrust), phenomenological reduction-return, intuition of essences-observe’ it can be concluded that seon master Daehaeng’s theory of Hanmaum practice is connected with Husserl’s phenomenological methodology, Furthermore this paper will show that seon master Daehaeng’s Dharma talks can function as an easy translation of an intricate phenomenology.

본 논문은 후설 현상학과 불교사상을 비교 고찰한 연구사적 보편성 속에서도, 후설 현상학의 불가적 함의에 대한 준거를 한마음선원장을 역임한 대행선사(大行禪師)의 설법을 통해 모색하려는 목적에서 기획되었다. 특히 본고에서는 후설 현상학과 대행선사 설법의 근본원리를 담은 ‘초월적 자아’와 ‘한마음 주인공’을 탐구하고 깨닫기 위한 방법론적 유사성 검토에 중점을 둔다. 이에 본 논문에서는 초월적 자아를 탐구하기 위한 후설의 현상학적 방법론인 판단중지·현상학적 환원·본질직관과 한마음 주인공을 깨닫기 위해 대행선사가 제시한 수행론인 놓음(맡김)·되돌림·지켜봄(觀)의 상관성 연구에 주목한다. ‘판단중지-놓음(맡김), 현상학적 환원-되돌림, 본질직관-지켜봄(觀)’이라는 현상학적 방법론과 한마음 수행론 간의 유사성 검토를 통하여 대행선사의 한마음 수행론이 후설의 현상학적 방법론과 조우하고 있다는 것, 나아가 난해한 현상학적 방법론에 대한 수월한 번역으로서 대행선사의 한마음 수행론이 기능할 수 있다는 것을 밝히고자 한다.
