After the analysis on Japanese hit comedy films in 2013~2014, I can summarize the specific comic code of Japanese film. First is the combination of linguistic specificity and the tradition of Japanese comedy. I found that the process of rearrangement, misunderstanding, analogy of words with same pronunciation causes laughter, and that dialect causes laughter with subtle nuance. Second is the borrowing of Manzai form. It is the familiar comic code to the Japanese people, and the direction related with ‘Ma’ (speed and interval in dialogue) causes laughter. Third is exaggerated character. It is often found that a particular person or his character is exaggerated. Then what is the social role of comedy film in Japanese society? The critical role is relatively strong in Japanese hit comedy films in 2013~2014 from the point of view the analysis framework with critics and integration. That is from the subject matter on the one hand, but on the other hand it is from the influence of that times. In other words, I think that the critical tendency in that films is closely linked to the critics and self-examination after the Great East Japan Earthquake, the pursuit of new life style, and the aim to the independent life.

2013년~2014년의 일본의 흥행작 코미디를 분석한 결과 일본영화 특유의 웃음 코드를 몇 가지로 정리해 볼 수 있다. 첫째는 일본어의 특수성에 기인한 것과 일본 코미디의 전통이 결합한 것을 들 수 있다. 같은 발음을 가진 일본어를 재배치, 오해, 유추하는 과정을 통해 웃음을 유발하고 있음을 알 수 있었고, 방언이 주는 뉘앙스적 웃음이 발견되었다. 두 번째는 만담의 형식을 차용한 것으로 형식적으로 익숙한 웃음 코드이면서 ‘마’라고 불리는 속도, 간격과 관련한 연출이 결합하여 웃음을 유발하고 있다. 세 번째로는 과장된 캐릭터인데, 어떤 특정한 인물이나 그 인물의 성격을 과장시키는 경우를 많이 발견할 수 있었다. 그러면 일본 사회에서 코미디영화는 어떤 사회적 기능을 하고 있는가? 비판과 통합이라는 틀로 분석해 보자면, 2013년~2014년 흥행작 코미디에서는 비판의 기능이 상대적으로 강함을 알 수 있다. 이것은 소재 자체에서 기인하기도 하지만, 한편으로는 시기적인 영향도 있다. 즉 2011년 동일본대지진을 겪은 일본 사회에서 분출된 비판과 자성, 새로운 라이프스타일의 추구 경향, 주체적 삶에의 지향 등과 연관된다고 생각한다.
