The Korean society emergence in the late 1990s financial crisis resulted in a huge change. This led to a demographic change in international migration and marriage through globalization. Globalization encompasses a variety of phenomenon when the world becomes interrelated, and neoliberalism, which embodies the characteristics of “economic globalization,” governs our life and consciousness with the principle of over composition. This deepens the widening gap between the rich and poor in the global economy. As a result of this trend, there is an increase in international labor and migration flow. Korean society is also faced with this global phenomenon. This is evident in the rise in overseas workers and the rampant growth of international marriages annually. In particular, the number of immigrant women who are married to Korean men is rapidly increasing. However, they are experiencing difficulties in both language and cultural differences, and at the same time, Korean society is labeling them as “women from poor countries.” Married women have been restricted for a long time and live in their own self-interest without acknowledging their identity. Most of the married women were excluded from Korean society. In addition, the support for women’s churches and Christian education centers is focused on “multi-military tendencies,” as they view women as subjects of social integration. The researcher analyzed the reality of married migrant women in Korean society for their objective understanding and settlement. This research also examined how they can adapt to Korean society from the Christian educational perspective. From my observation, it is necessary to engage this study from the intercultural view. Therefore unlike the traditional view, based on the Story of Syrophoenician Woman from the intercultural perspective this research provides a Christian education model for marriage migrant women.

1990년 말 등장한 외환위기 사태는 한국 사회의 큰 변화를 주었다. 그것은 바로 세계화를 통한 국제이주와 결혼의 증가다. 세계화는 전 세계가 상호관련성을 갖게 되면서 다양한 현상을 포괄하는데, 그중 “경제적 세계화”의 특징을 지닌 신자유주의는 과도한 경쟁의 원리로 우리의 삶과 의식을 지배한다. 이는 세계경제의 빈부격차를 심화시킨다. 이러한 흐름 속에 노동과 이주가 늘어나고, 한국 사회에도 영향을 미쳐 해외 노동자가 늘고 있고 국제결혼이 매년 증가하고 있다. 특히 한국인 남성과 결혼하여 이주한 결혼이주여성들이 크게 증가하고 있다. 하지만 이들은 한국에 살면서 언어와 문화적 차이의 어려움을 겪고 있고 동시에 한국사회가 이들을 ‘가난한 나라에서 온 여성’이라고 타자화 또는 주변화시킨다. 결혼이주여성들도 타자화되고 주변화된 시선에 오랫동안 갇혀있어서 스스로의 주체성을 인식하지 못하고 자신을 열등한 존재로 받아들이며 살아간다. 대다수의 결혼이주여성들은 한국사회에서 소외되었다. 게다가 결혼이주여성들을 사회통합의 주체가 아닌 사회통합의 대상으로만 바라보기 때문에 한국교회나 기독교교육 현장에서도 이들을 위한 지원이 ‘동화주의 성향의 다문화’위주로 진행되고 있다. 본 연구자는 그들의 올바른 이해와 정착을 위해서 한국사회의 결혼이주 여성들의 현실을 분석하였다. 그리고 이들의 한국사회의 적응을 위해 논의되는 교육적 관점을 모색하고 이러한 논의 과정에서 기독교교육의 대안은 무엇인지 살펴봄으로써, 상호문화적 관점의 기독교교육이 필요하다고 판단되었다. 따라서 결혼이주여성들에게 전통적 관점과는 달리 상호문화적 관점의 ‘수로보니게 여인’의 이야기를 바탕으로 한 기독교교육 모형을 제시했다.
