This article aims to analyze the understanding of the postwar Japanese nationalistic movement greatly involving the Yatsuguni Shrine, and the criticism by Korea, China and Asian countries. The Yatsuguni Shrine turned into an international issue from 15th August 1985, when the Japanese Prime Minister Yatsuhiro Nakasone formally visited the Shrine. After Nakasone's visit however, the Japanese government stopped visiting the Shrine to respect the neighboring countries. On 29th July 1996, after eleven years, Rutaro Hashimoto formally visited the Yatsuguni Shrine again, and this lead to a tradition in Japan. After Hashimoto's visit to the Yatsuguni Shrine, the Korean and Chinese governments blamed the Japanese for their non-reflection of the war. However, the Japanese Primer Junichiro Koizumi insists that there are a variety of issues that Korea, Japan and China should cooperate, which is a contrary opinion to the Yatsuguni issue that other countries are still angry about. Therefore, this article mentions the limits of solutions to the tangle among the Northeast Asian countries with Japan. And it also mentions why the Yatsuguni Shrine issue was expanded into an international issue.
