The purpose of this study is to understand the relationship among smartphone addiction, depression, anger and self-esteem in college students. Participants were 344 college students in Chungbuk area. The survey tools were smartphone addiction scale, KSCL95 and self-esteem scale. Data were processed R project, using Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and path analysis. As a result, First, there were significant correlations among smartphone addiction, depression, anger and self-esteem. Second, in path analysis, self-esteem partially mediated the relationship between smartphone addiction and anger. However, self-esteem did not have a significant mediating effect on relationship between smartphone addiction and anger. Based on the results some implications and importances of mental health were discussed for smartphone addiction of college students.

본 연구의 목적은 최근 사회적 위험이 되고 있는 스마트폰 중독과 우울, 분노공격, 자아존중감 간의 관계를 파악하여 스마트폰 중독에 대한 예방 및 개입 방안마련의 기초자료를 제공하는데 있다. 이를 위해 충북지역 대학생 344명을 대상으로 스마트폰 중독 척도, KSCL95의 우울, 분노공격 소척도, 자아존중감 척도로 각 변인을 측정하고, Pearson 적률상관분석과 경로분석을 실시하여 변인 간의 관계를 살펴보았다. 그 결과, 스마트폰 중독과 우울, 분노공격, 자아존중감 간에는 유의미한 상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 자아존중감이 두 변인에 대해 매개하여 스마트폰 중독에 영향을 미치는지 살펴보기 위해 경로모형을 설정하여 각 경로에 대한 bootstrapping 방식으로 이를 검증한 결과, 우울은 자아존중감을 매개로 하여 스마트폰 중독에 미치는 간접효과가 유의미한 것으로 나타났다. 하지만 분노공격은 자아존중감에 대한 매개효과가 유의미하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 이에 대한 논의와 연구의의, 제한점을 기술하였다.
