Recently, South Korea has become a multiethnic society that is multicultural fusion by a variety of conditions and situations. Returnees of overseas Koreans, migrant workers coming in search of work in the process of globalization, marriage migrants, North Korean defectors, and also overseas Chinese have become members of Korea Society. Now, South Korea cannot coexist with the framework of existing values. Our previous thoughts in distinguishing and grading among human beings have become one of the biggest threats for us to coexist within the society. In order to seek new social order, people should think beyond the previous thoughts and create novel interactions in the lives of the ecosystem as a global level. For that purpose, this paper attempted to seek Postmodern values and suggests plans for the multicultural education. Since the policy and ways of multicultural education based on modernity show limitations of benefits and assimilation, postmodern multicultural education should aim at training “creative minorities” which pursues creating a new community.

현재 우리 사회는 다양한 조건과 상황에 의해 다문화가 진행되는 다문화·다민족사 회이다. 한인 디아스포라의 고국으로의 귀환, 세계화의 과정에서 일자리를 찾아오는 이 주노동자, 결혼이주자, 탈북자, 화교 등으로 이미 우리 사회는 기존의 사고의 틀로는 공 존의 한계에 부딪치고 있다. 본 연구는 이 거대한 흐름을 이루고 있는 근대성에 대한 비 판적 성찰을 시도하고자 한다. 우리 안에 내재하는 인간 주체를 등급 매기고 구분하는 사고가 비인권적 상황과 공존을 위협하는 현실을 초래하였다고 판단하며, 이를 넘어서 는 새로운 사회질서에 대한 모색이 필요하다고 본다. 이에 전 지구적 차원의 새로운 상 호소통으로서의 삶의 생태계를 만들어가기 위한 다문화교육의 방안을 마련하고자 탈근 대적 가치탐색을 시도하였다. 본 연구는 근대성에 기초한 다문화교육 및 정책이 동화주 의와 시혜중심의 한계를 보이는 것에 문제의식을 가지며 근대와 탈근대의 논쟁보다는 새로운 공동체 형성을 지향하는 ‘창조적 소수자’로서 사상성 형성에 그 역점을 두었으며 다문화교육의 목표로서 ‘창조적 소수자’의 가능성을 제시하고자 한다.
