This study aims to make an in-depth analysis about the role of the media in integrating multicultural families into the society and proposes some solutions and policy alternatives in which a multicultural broadcasting network can efficiently be used in multicultural education. The media can wield strong influence over the public in terms of culture, values and trends. Because the media has both, the power of communicability and destruction to change or fix people's perceptions, they play a significant role in forming social recognition and concepts. Multicultural families are going through financial difficulties, as well as hardships due to distorted understandings, which leads to the conclusion that multicultural education through the media is in urgent need. In case the multicultural broadcasting network is improved, it will have huge effects in social integration of multicultural families, since the media will induce debates and discussions on certain multicultural issues toward a specific direction.

본 연구에서는 다문화사회에서 사회통합에 미치는 미디어의 역할에 대하여 심층적으 로 분석하여, 다문화 방송국이 다문화교육에 효과적으로 활용될 수 있는 방안과 정책대 안을 제시하였다. 미디어는 다문화가정을 포함한 일반 대중들에게 있어서 대중의 문화, 가치관, 유행 등 의 형성에 막강한 영향력을 행사할 수 있다. 미디어는 전달력과 파괴력을 동시에 지녀서 사람들의 인식을 변화시킬 수도 고정시킬 수도 있는 힘을 가지고 있기 때문에 사회적 인 식이나 개념을 형성하는데 있어 그 역할이 지대하다고 말할 수 있다. 다문화가정은 경제적 어려움뿐만 아니라, 이들에 대한 왜곡된 인식으로 인해 이중고 를 겪고 있으며, 이 때문에 미디어를 통해 다문화교육을 강화해야 할 필요성이 있다. 다 문화 방송국이 개설될 경우, 다문화가정의 이슈를 특정 방식으로 재현해 이들에 대한 특 정한 방향의 토론과 담론 형성을 유도한다는 점에서 내국인뿐만 아니라, 다문화가정의 사회통합을 위해서 상당한 파급효과가 있을 것이다.
