Most people perceive idleness as negative. But people should think again about the immediately realize that idleness is a sin. This study starts from this problem and critically examines the concept of idleness, such as idleness as a means to restore humanity, idleness as a political ideology, idleness as a resistance to self - development and mechanical life. Thus, we will examine the problems of social perception of idleness in the present age and present the meaning and diversity of idleness by analyzing three discourses. As a result of the study, idleness was found to depend on how a subject with a political position uses it. Idleness is an ambivalent concept that can be perceived as idleness and insincerity through the use of political ideology, and may be perceived as leisure and slow. The reinterpretation of idleness culture accepts idleness as leisure and relaxation of the mind, and re - recognizes it as a speculative action that makes myself totally the subject of my life. The ultimate meaning of a idle culture that can be understood through cultural phenomena is to criticize blind force and urgent social atmosphere. Although academic research on idleness is still lacking, it is expected that further discussion will be made to raise interest in such problems and to pursue quality of life in the future.

대부분의 사람들은 게으름을 부정적으로 인식한다. 하지만 게으름을 무조건적으로 죄악이라 여기는 것 대해 다시 생각해봐야 한다. 본 연구는 이와 같은 문제제기에서 시작되어, 게으름의 양가적 개념에 따라 인간성 회복을 위한 수단으로서의 게으름, 정치적 이데올로기로서의 게으름, 자기계발과 기계적 삶의 저항으로서의 게으름을 비판적으로 고찰한다. 그리하여 세 가지 담론을 분석함으로써 현 시대의 게으름에 대한 사회적 인식의 문제점을 살펴보고, 게으름이 지닌 의미와 다양성을 제시하고자 한다. 게으름은 어떤 정치적 입장을 가진 주체가 어떻게 사용하는가에 따라 판이하게 달라진다. 또한 게으름은 지배 이데올로기의 활용을 통해 나태와 불성실로 인식될 수도 있고, 여유와 느림으로 인식될 수 도 있다. 게으름 문화의 재해석은 게으름을 마음의 여유와 느긋함으로 받아들이고, 자신을 온전히 내 삶의 주체로 만드는 사색적 행위로 재인식하게 한다. 문화현상을 통해 알 수 있는 게으름 문화의 궁극적인 의미는 맹목적인 강요와 급박한 사회적 분위기를 비판적으로 보는 것이다. 아직 게으름에 대한 학문적 연구는 부족한 상태이나 이와 같은 문제에 대한 관심을 제고시키고 추후 삶의 질적 가치추구를 위해 더 많은 논의가 이루어지길 기대한다.
