The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of drama activities on elementary school students' story construction ability by designing and applying drama activities using wordless picture books. Because drama activities are based on stories, drama activities using wordless picture books will stimulate students' various thoughts and imaginations. Through such a process, it becomes possible for the students to lead the story. I think that it will have a positive effect on students' story construction ability. Therefore, the researchers set the following research problems. 1. How does drama activity affect story construction ability? The following are the subordinate research problems. 1) How does drama activity affect the concept of story structure for story construction? 2) How does drama activity affect imagination for story construction? In order to solve these research problems, we first examined the possibility of using drama as a story construction activity strategy. We examined what story construction ability is and what story character is embedded in drama activity. In addition, we examined the value of 'wordless picture books' as a sanction for story-making activities. Next, we design drama activities using wordless picture books, and apply the designed contents to the actual lessons and analyze the teaching process and activity data. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, Drama activities have a positive effect on expanding the concept of story structure for story construction among students' story construction ability. Second, Drama activities have a positive effect on expanding the imagination for story construction among students' story construction ability. In this study, it is meaningful that drama activities led students to actively engage in literary appreciation and to influence students' ability to compose stories. I hope that this research contributes to students' active participation in literary appreciation learning and that I hope to be able to plan and carry out more advanced drama activities for the improvement of story construction ability in the field in the future.

본 연구는 글없는 그림책을 활용하여 드라마 활동을 설계하고 적용해 봄으로써 드라마 활동이 초등학생 의 이야기 구성 능력에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보는 데 그 목적이 있다. 드라마 활동은 이야기를 기반으로 이루어지므로 글없는 그림책을 활용한 드라마 활동은 학생들의 다양 한 사고와 상상을 자극하게 된다. 그러한 과정을 통해 학생들은 주도적으로 이야기를 생성해 내는 것이 가능해진다. 이는 결국 학생들의 이야기 구성 능력에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 것으로 판단하였다. 따라서 연구자는 다음과 같은 연구문제를 설정하였다. 1. 드라마 활동이 이야기 구성 능력에 어떤 영향을 미치는가? 이에 따른 하위 연구 문제는 다음과 같다. 1) 드라마 활동이 이야기 구성을 위한 이야기 구조 개념에 어떤 영향을 미치는가? 2) 드라마 활동이 이야기 구성을 위한 상상력에 어떤 영향을 미치는가? 이와 같은 연구문제를 해결하기 위해 먼저 이야기 구성 활동 전략으로서 드라마의 활용 가능성에 대해 살펴보았다. 이야기 구성 능력이란 무엇인지, 드라마 활동에 내재된 이야기성은 무엇인지 살펴보았다. 또한 이야기 구성 활동의 제재로서 ‘글없는 그림책’의 가치에 대해서도 살펴보았다. 다음으로, 글없는 그림책을 활용한 드라마 활동을 설계하였고, 설계한 내용을 실제 수업에 적용하여 수업 과정 및 활동 자료를 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 드라마 활동은 학생들의 이야기 구성 능력 중 이야기 구성을 위한 이야기 구조 개념을 신장시키는 데에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 드라마 활동은 학생들의 이야기 구성 능력 중 이야기 구성을 위한 상상력을 신장시키는 데에 긍정 적인 영향을 미쳤다. 본 연구는 드라마 활동을 통해 학생들의 적극적인 문학 감상을 유도하였으며, 학생들의 이야기 구성 능 력에 영향을 미쳤다는 데 의의가 있다. 이 연구가 학생들의 주도로 이루어지는 적극적 문학 감상 학습의 사례로 기여하기를 기대하며 앞으로 현장에서 이야기 구성 능력 신장을 위한 더욱 발전된 드라마 활동 들을 계획하고 실행할 수 있길 바래본다.
