A Study on Breeding Policy of Small and Medium Size Business

Since 1960, Korean economy has been established high degree of economic growth under the planned economic system by emphasis on government policy. However, competiveness of small and medium size business has been weakend relatively compared with the large size business. Nevertheless, the weights of employment ratio, value of products, value added and value of exports increased higher than the large size business from 1980 to 1997. Government should intensify the international competiveness and equilibrium development of large size business and small and medium size business through the intensive support and breeding policy. This study aims to suggest the policy alternatives and development directions of small and medium size business(SMB). This study focussed on the definition and characteristics, national economic role and weights, problems and breeding alternatives in SMB. To solve this study aims, the breeding policy alternatives are as follows : 1. To promote continuous knowledge intensification in SMB by efficient allocation of management resources. 2. To increase the professional manpower through the flexibility of labor market and development of demand oriented manpower. 3. To improve the financial structure and to enhance the long term capital investment in SMB. In conclusion, it is necessary to improve the efficient management and put emphasis on the customer oriented product innovation and quality improvement through the SMB own efforts.
