The Relationship between Job Characteristics and OCB with Moderating Effect of Career-related Characteristics

This research investigated the moderating role of career-related characteristics on the relationship between job characteristics and organizational citizenship behaviors. Correlation and hierarchical regression were employed to test the hypotheses. The moderating role of career-related characteristics examined using Baron and Kenny`s approach. With 3,200 members in a securities company, it was found that (1) job characteristics are positively related with OCB and (2) Career-related characteristics are partial moderators in the relationship between job characteristics and OCB. In particular, age, rank, and job seniority have been investigated as moderator. Some implications of these results are discussed.
