The Comparative Study of Foreign Direct Investment Policy of Korea & China

It is said that Foreign Direct Investment(FDI) has become a key part of national development strategies for many countries, Korea's first FDI is registered that Korea Nambang development company's investment is recorded in 1968 in Indonesia forest development. In 1985, G5's Plaza Agreement mad Korea Won appreciation and substantial trade surplus during 1986-1990 which makes it's FDI activity more dynamic. China become Korea's first business partner of export since 2003 and of import in 2008 and of FDI based on accumulated amount in 2007 separately. There are a lot of changes in every fields between Korea and China since diplomatic relations nomalized in 1992. This paper contents how Korea FDI Policy to China affects domestic total Industry, export and production efficiency during investment liberalization period of 1992-2000 and 2001-2008 and after that, China's entry to WTO membership. According to EXIM bank's report, FDI to China is 30.8% and manufacturing industry is 84.2% among them. This rapid increase may lead the de-industrialization of same field of industry in Korea.

한국의 해외직접투자(FDI)는 1968년 한국남방개발(주)의 인도네시아 삼림개발투자로부 터 시작되었다. 이후 1984년까지 외환의 부족과 이로 인한 정부의 외환규제정책으로 16년 동안 FDI는 광업, 임업, 무역업 등 매우 제한된 범위에서 소규모로 진행되다가, 1985년 플 라자합의를 통해 원화가 평가 절상되고, 1986년부터 1990년까지 막대한 무역수지 흑자를 기록하자 해외투자를 본격적으로 시작하였다.
