Analyzing Cost-Benefit & Spillovers of Horticulture Breeding R&D

The main objective of this study is to analyze cost-benefit and spillovers of horticulture breeding R&D. First part of this study is cost-benefit analysis and calculation of BEP. For the resonable result, input data is gathered by survey and statistics data. It is found that horticulture breeding R&D has 3.7~9.9 B/C rate. Especially fruit productions has the highest B/C rate which is 11.4~30.2. Second part of this study is spillovers evaluation in Korea economy. In this part, input-output table is used. The result of spillover evaluations is a relatively high level of spillover effects in terms of production inducement, employment inducement, value-added inducement. According to the result, horticulture breeding induces 15 billion won of total product, 7.5 billion won of total added value, 433 of total employment.
