The literary world of the fantasy novel has been left incomplete since the death of its author Kenji Miyazawa. With multiple Japanese versions, the attractive tale has been translated into Korean by seven translators. The seven Korean translators exhibit similarities in understanding some words including ‘milk’, ‘the Centaurus Festival’, ‘the Pillar of the Weather Wheel’, and ‘the apple’. The translators accepted the latter three as words that are used in both the real and imaginary worlds. Their versions, however, show different translation strategies through the translator's annotations, comments, and interpretations. This implies that each translator had a different target audience as well as a different interpretation of “Night on the Galactic Railroad”

미야자와 겐지가 만년까지 작품 세계를 완성시키지 않고 남긴 동화 『은하철도의 밤』은 지금까지도 많은 논고가 있는 매력적인 작품인 만큼 일곱 명의 『은하철도의 밤』의 번역자가 우유(乳, 牛乳), 켄타우로스 축제(ケンタウル祭), 천기륜 기둥(天気輪の柱), 사과(苹果)에 대한 일한번역은 유사한 양상을 보이고 있고, 우유(乳, 牛乳)를 제외한 나머지 어휘에 대해서는 실제세계와 환상세계에서 동시에 사용하고 있는 어휘로 번역자들이 받아들이고 있다. 그러나 역주나 옮긴이의 말과 작품해설에서는 이들 어휘에 대한 번역전략도 다양한 양상이 나타나고 있음을 알 수 있다. 이는 『은하철도의 밤』의 번역자마다 작품세계에 대한 이해와 독자층 대상 선정이 다름을 보여주고 있다고 할 수 있다.
