This paper is aimed at studying the new concept of living in Japan by comparing Korean-Japanese and Chinese-Japanese. The different elements of the two identities will be investigated by following observations: identity crisis as imaginary experience of mother nation falls apart in actual experience, awareness of mother nation and nationality under the current condition that requires settlement in Japan, language experience and culture shock based on the concept of living in Japan. Such concept of living in Japan may differ from that of past or future, and there may be a variety of them, because crossing the border lies beneath the identity crisis, awareness of mother nation and nationality, and language experience and culture shock. This indicates that there is a concept of living in Japan which transcends the national borders.

이 논문의 목적은 이양지의 「유희」와 양이의 「시간이 스며드는 아침」을 중심으로 두 작가의 소설을 비교 연구하여 변모하는 재일의 특성을 포착함에 있다. 재일한국인으로서의 재일과 재일중국인으로서의 재일을 비교 연구하면서 새로운 재일을 모색하고자 하는 제 각각의 노력을 드러냄에 있다. 조국체험을 통하여 ‘상상 속의 조국체험이라는 관념’이 분쇄되면서 발생하는 아이덴티티의 혼란, 일본에 정주하지 않으면 안 된다는 현재성으로 인하여 요동치는 기존의 조국과 국적의식, 재일성을 중심으로 이루어지는 언어체험과 문화충격을 통한 차이를 내재화하면서 현재화 되는 재일을 고찰한다. 이러한 재일은 과거의 재일과는 다르며 또한 앞으로의 재일과도 다를 수 있고 제 각각의 재일이 존재할 수 있다고 할 수 있다. 아이덴티티의 혼란, 조국과 국적의식, 언어체험과 문화충격의 배경에는 월경이 주요 요소로 작용하고 있다고 할 수 있다. 일본이라는 한 국가에만 통용되는 재일이 아닌 국경을 초월하는 재일이 있음을 나타내고 있는 것이다.
