This article is a study on maintenance and formation process of firm ‘on Spiritual-mindedness’ which a proposed way to overcome ‘the Sin which Remains’ in Christians, based on the theological heritage of John Owen(1616-1683). In ‘the context of life’(Sitz-im-Leben) people, including Christians, make decisions controlled by their ‘mindedness.’ Christians who are consecrated by God’s sovereignty and, as follow the ‘Spirit’, are influenced by ‘Spiritual-mindedness.’ As ‘Spiritual-mindedness’ lies in the heart of Christians, it will lead them to recognize the Triune-God who is the ‘Subject of Love’, to impressed to follow Him. On the other hand, as ‘the Sin which Remains’ in the heart of God’s people, it entices them to ‘Privatize’ religion according to the temptation of the world. The preceding research on the ‘Religious-privatization’ of Christians and the British Christian community in the 17th century led the writer of ‘on Spiritual-mindedness’, Owen, to overcome ‘the Sin which Remains’ in Christians. Owen illuminated in ‘on Spiritual-mindedness’ the ‘Carnal-mind and Spiritual-mind’, concentrating on Romans 8:6. The firm ‘on Spiritual-mindedness’ which Owen presented is how Christians were led to be dependent on God, as the ‘Subject of Love’, in the context of their lives. As a member of the Puritans, Owen’s efforts were conveyed to later Christians as a theological heritage. Therefore, this article makes two arguments based on biblical logic of John Owen. First, Christians form ‘Spiritual-mindedness’ inside their minds led by the ‘subject of love’, the Triune-God. Second, ‘Spiritual-mindedness’ fortifies itself when a person holistically and continuously follows God, the ‘Subject of Love.’ The conclusion of the argument is that the firm ‘on Spiritual-mindedness’ led and support by the Triune God, will empower Christians to overcome the Sin which remaining in their heart. Thus, “A detailed process of how firm ‘Spiritual-mindedness’ of Christians overcomes sin” is presented as this article’s subsequent research theme.
