Nowadays posthumanism discourse has been sending shockwave through the humanities and social sciences, educational studies. This essay argues for the directions of art education and research under the posthuman discourse. Posthumanism implies the merging of humans and machines in order to enhance or extend human capabilities. Enhancement implies an optimistic state of affairs. Such enhancement is better conceived as transhumanism. Posthumanism viewed enhancements as dangerous politically and ontologically. In the vision of posthumanism, we live in a world where the stable boundaries separating humans from animals and machines have already became breeched. With this perspective I examined the concept and short history of humanism, art productions assisted by AI, bio art that want to criticise the relationship of human-animal. In conclusion, I proposed that art education is the humanistic system of visual representation, the reproduction of the fixed point of view for human, the limitation of aesthetic standards established by anthropocentrism, and the inevitable coexistence with human and technology.

오늘날 포스트휴머니즘 담론은 인문학 사회과학, 교육학 분야에 파장을 안기고 있다. 본 연구는 포스트휴머니즘의 담론을 바탕으로 미술교육과 연구의 방향을 모색하고자 한다. 포스트휴머니즘 담론은 두 가지로 대변된다. 기계를 통해 기존 인간의 능력을 초월하거나 최대한 강화한 초인간(transhuman)을 만들려는 시도나 경향을 대변하는 트랜스휴머니즘, 사이보그나 사물인터넷처럼 인간과 사물의 경계가 모호해지는 상황에서 인간(human)은 이제 탈인간(posthuman)으로 재구성되어야 한다는 포스트휴머니즘이 그것이다. 포스트휴머니즘은 인간이 동물이나 기계와 다르다고 구별 짓는 경계가 와해되는 시대에 살고 있음을 주장한다. 이런 관점에서 본 연구는 휴머니즘 개념의 역사, 인공지능, 바이오 아트 등과 관련된 미술 표현을 검토하며 인간과 동물, 기계의 관계에 대한 포스트휴머니즘의 시사점을 찾아보았다. 결론적으로 미술교육이 휴머니즘적 시각재현 체계라는 점, 휴머니즘적 인간이라는 고정된 인간관의 재생산, 인간중심적인 미적 기준의 한계, 기술과의 필연적 공존에 대한 교육적 대비를 주장하고 있다.
