The purpose of this study was to analyze of formation and content system on expressive activity in physical education in elementary school based on the 2009 revised curriculum. The study was collected and analyzed 12 textbooks of 3th ~ 6th grades. As a result, in terms of formation system, there was a lack of expressive activity in terms of representation and a difference in the kinds of activities and the order of presentation depending on differences in emphasis in each textbook. In terms of content system, material, illustration, activity level, content, values, and evaluation were as follows. First, expressive activity should incorporate relevant physical activities in activities to enable students to internalize the creativity of students. Second, it should be configured to be a reference material to reflect the importance of appreciation and evaluation. Third, activities should be organized so that students can stimulate their imaginations and immerse themselves into activities. Fourth, activities should be made easy for teachers and students to use.

본 연구는 2015 개정 교육과정을 토대로 새롭게 만들어진 교과서들과의 만남에 앞서, 2009 개정 교육과정에 따른초등학교 체육교과 표현활동 구성 및 내용 체계를 분석함으로써 교육과정 및 교과서 개발과 선정의 기초자료를 제공하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 초등학교 전 과정에 걸쳐 개발이 완료된 초등학교 3⋅4⋅5⋅6학년 교과서들중 선정률이 높은 학년별 3권씩 총 12종을 채택하여 분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 표현활동 구성 체계 측면에서 교육과정 상의 다른 영역에 비해 표현활동의 내용 비중이 낮고, 각 교과서에서 강조하는 부분의 차이에 따라 활동 종류와 제시하는 순서의 차이가 있음이 발견되었다. 내용 체계의 측면에서 소재, 삽화, 활동 수준, 내용, 신체활동 가치, 평가로 범주화한 결과, 다음과 같은 결론에 도달하였다. 첫째, 표현활동은 학생의 창의성을 내면화할 수 있도록관련 신체활동 가치를 활동 속에 담고 있어야 한다. 둘째, 표현활동은 감상과 평가의 중요성을 반영하여 성장의 참조자료가 되도록 구성해야 한다. 셋째, 표현활동은 학생의 상상력을 자극하고 활동에 몰입할 수 있도록 구성해야한다. 넷째, 표현활동은 교사와 학생이 이용하기 쉽게 구성해야 한다.
