The purpose of the present study lies in bibliographically examining the twenty eongan (Korean old vernacular letters, 諺簡) of Yi Hyeong-sang’s (李衡祥) family from the Jeonju Yi (全州 李氏) clan currently housed in the National Hangeul Museum (國立 한글 博物館) and elucidating their senders and recipients, the relationships between the two parties, and the years of correspondence so that these documents may be used as data in the history of the Korean language. The results of a bibliographical examination of these data are as follow. Letters written by Yi Sa-min (李師閔) amount to a total of thirteen, twelve of which were addressed to his wife and one of which was addressed to his daughter, respectively. They were sent mainly in the 1620s, thus reflecting Korean from the early 17th century. Eongans penned by Yi Ju-ha (李柱廈) amount to a total of three, with one addressed to his wife and two addressed to his daughter-in-law, respectively. They were sent between 1650 and 1671, thus reflecting the language from the mid- to the late 17th century. Letters composed by Yi Hyeong-sang amount to a total of two, both sent to his youngest daughter, or O Myeong-un’s (吳命運) wife, in 1721, thus reflecting Korean from the early 18th century. One noteworthy aspect that must be added here is that, in terms of the senders of these eongans, while Yi Sa-min and Yi Ju-ha lived in Seoul (漢陽), Yi Hyeong-sang lived in Incheon (仁川) so that eongans from Yi Hyeong-sang’s family are data reflecting central dialects (中部 方言) of early to mid-Modern Korean.

본고는 국립한글박물관 소장 全州 李氏 李衡祥家 諺簡 20건에 대한 서지적 고찰을 통해 발․수신자와 발․수신 관계, 발신 연도를 밝혀 국어사 자료로 활용하도록 하는 데에 목적이 있다. 해당 자료를 서지적으로 고찰한 결과는 다음과 같다. 李師閔의 편지는 총 13건으로 이 중 12건이 아내에게 보낸 것이고 1건이 딸에게 보낸 것이었다. 편지를 보낸 시기는 주로 1620년대로 17세기 초의 언어를 반영하고 있다. 李柱廈의 편지는 총 3건으로 아내에게 보낸 것이 1건, 며느리에게 보낸 것이 2건이다. 발신 연도는 1650~1671년 사이에 보낸 것으로 17세기 중후반의 언어를 반영하고 있다. 李衡祥의 언간은 총 2건이며 모두 막내딸인 오명운의 처에게 1721년에 보낸 것으로 18세기 초의 언어를 반영하고 있다. 여기에 덧붙여 한 가지 주목할 것은 발신자인 李師閔과 李株廈의 거주지는 한양이었고 李衡祥의 거주지는 인천이어서 李衡祥家 諺簡이 근대국어 초중반의 중부 방언을 반영한 자료라는 점이다.
