This paper analyzes how small and medium enterprises (SMEs)’ intellectual properties (IP) activities affect firms’ managerial performance including growth, productivity, and profitability. We measure firms’ IP activities using not only quantitative variables such as the amount of patents and IP assets but also qualitative measurement like technological influence of the registered patents. The findings show that firms’ IP activities help companies improve their performance.
