Many studies for the application of sogeum, a small transverse bamboo instrument, have announced that sogeum is easier to express a variety of sounds and to play Korean music than danso, short bamboo flute which is widely used at the secondary schools in Korea. Since it has various registers and is easy for students, it is considered as the appropriate instrument for educating Korean music. However, because of the lacks of the materials or scores for sogeum, the portions of sogeum are much lower than that of danso. ?;?;This study aims to develop the effective teaching methods that enables middle school students to easily play the sogeum and learn the characteristics of Korean music by playing sogeum with lots of interest and pleasure. ?;?;This study explored the approaches for Korean students of the secondary schools to playing the sogeum by examining the contents related to the sogeum from the music textbooks and the parts of ‘playing musical instrument’ in the 7th Korean national Curriculum and the Revised Curriculum of 2007. ?;?;From this investigation, this study describes that the classified approaches to playing sogeum from basic to intermediate levels that plays simple composed music or Korean folk songs and advanced levels that plays Korean classical music such as ‘Taryeong’ and ‘Chwit’. This steps can be gradually applied every year, or within one year. In addition, this study presents the more approaches to appreciating ‘Sujecheon’ related to sogeum and the opportunities to experience ‘Way’, Korean contemporary music which shows the characteristics of sogeum properly. ?;?;In conclusion, this study recommands that more effective approaches to playing sogeum can be applied to different musical pieces for sogeum by the musical levels or grades of students. Also, this author expects that this findings can help music teachers to effectively teach sogeum.

소금은 현재 중등학교에서 수업용 교구로서 주로 사용되고 있는 국악기인 단소에 비해 취구가 커서 소리를 내기 에 비교적 용이하고 음역이나 음 표현에 있어서도 단소보다는 훨씬 다양한 음들을 소리낼 수 있기 때문에 학생 들에게 적절하다고 여겨져 지속적으로 소금의 현장 활용 논문들과 연구들이 발표되고 있다. 하지만 아직까지는 다양한 소금 교재의 개발이나 자료가 많지 않아 학교 현장에서 소금을 연주하는 경우는 단소에 비해 너무나 낮 은 비율을 차지하고 있는 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 학교현장에서 활용되고 있는 가락악기 ‘소금’을 중학교 과정에서 보다 쉽게 접근할 수 있도록 하 는 지도 방안을 제시한 것으로 학생들이 보다 쉽고 흥미 있게 소금을 연주하도록 하여 우리음악의 멋과 흥을 자 연스럽게 체득하도록 하게 함에 목적이 있다. 본 연구에서는 현행되고 있는 제7차 음악과 교육과정과 2007년 개정 음악과 교육과정 중 활동영역에서의 ‘악기 연주하기’와 음악 교과서에 제시되어 있는 소금 관련 내용들을 살펴보고, 중학교 과정에서의 소금 교육이 어떻 게 이루어져야 할 것인가를 모색하였다. 또한, 학생들에게 소금이라는 악기를 자연스럽게 몸에 익힐 수 있도록 단계에 따른 지도방법과 악곡들을 게재하고, 지도방안도 같이 제시하여 소금을 효과적으로 수업에 활용할 수 있 게 하였다. 소금을 학습할 때 소리내기 및 기초 연습곡을 다루는 기초단계와 각 지방의 민요와 간단한 창작 국악곡을 연주 할 수 있는 중급단계, 전통 국악관현악곡인 ‘타령’과 ‘취타’를 연주할 수 있는 고급단계로 나누어 제시하였으며, 이러한 단계를 학년에 따라 다르게 적용하여 악곡을 지도할 때 보다 효율적인 학습이 이루어지도록 다양한 형태 의 지도 방안을 제시하였다. 물론 학년마다 악기를 달리하여 가르친다면 예외가 될 것이며, 이러한 경우 한 학년 에 전 과정을 모두 다루어 완성도 있는 수업이 되도록 해야 한다. 또한 본 연구에서는 ‘악기 연주하기’에서 한 걸음 더 나아가 감상 활동과 연계한 수업을 구안하여 중학교 과정에 서 연주하기 힘든 ‘수제천’을 감상수업의 제재곡으로 제시하였으며, 소금의 특징이 잘 드러난 창작국악 관현악 곡 ‘길’도 함께 다루어 다양한 악곡을 접할 수 있도록 하였다. 따라서 소금을 학습할 때 단계를 나누어 학년이나 학생들의 연주 수준에 따라 다르게 적용하여 악곡을 지도한다면 보다 효율적인 학습이 이루어지리라 여겨지며, 본 연구에서 제시한 여러 내용들이 학교 현장에서 소금을 지도하는데 조금이나마 도움이 되기를 기대한다.
