Since Korean music has been established by the different ways comparing with Western music, it has many different views upon music education. These gaps make the different contents and approaches of Korean music from Western techniques. For this reason, more recently, there have been musical efforts to revive Korean cultural traditions and ideas through the use of more culturally authentic teaching methodologies. This paper explores the use of traditional Korean notation and physical expressions for teaching authentic Korean music in classrooms. In particular, the following traditional approaches are described: the Garaksunbo, Gueum and full score approaches as examples of traditional Korean notation systems and the Jangdan by hands, Balim, Didimsae and Sigimsae by hands as examples of traditional physical expressions. It is hoped that these results will contribute to the further development and establishment of more systematic authentic approaches to teaching Korean music.

우리 음악은 서구의 음악과는 다른 형성배경과 학문적 체계를 갖고 형성되었으며 따라서 음악교육에 대한 관점 에서도 서구의 그것과 크게 차이가 난다. 따라서 우리가 음악을 통해 가르쳐야 한다고 생각해 왔던 내용 및 방법 과 서구의 음악교육의 그것과는 치아가 있으며, 우리의 사상 및 전통을 바탕으로 한 국악교육 철학의 정립은 물 론 국악 교수법에 대한 연구와 고찰이 필요한 이유가 여기에 있다. 본 연구에서는 학교 현장에서 국악을 국악답게 가르치기 위한 교수법을 우리 고유의 국악 교수ㆍ학습 방식 속에 서 찾기 위하여 전통적인 기보법과 관련한 교수법과 전통적인 신체표현을 활용한 교수법으로 나누어 살펴보았 다. 그 결과 전통적인 기보법을 활용한 교수법은 크게 가락선보 교수법, 구음 교수법, 총보 활용 교수법으로 정 리할 수 있었고, 전통적인 신체표현을 활용한 교수법은 발림 교수법, 디딤새 교수법, 손장단(양수지박) 교수법, 손시김 교수법으로 나누어 볼 수 있었다. 본고의 연구 결과는 국악을 국악답게 가르치기 위한 교수법 개발의 첫 걸음이라고 할 수 있다. 이 연구 결과를 밑바탕으로 하여 보다 체계적인 교수법 이론이 정립된다면, 국악 교육이 한 단계 더 발전할 수 있는 계기가 될 수 있으리라 기대한다.
