One of the aims of the Revised Music Curriculum of 2007 is to improve the quality of the Korean music and methodology included in Korean music education. In order to achieve this, textbooks must include solid learning content and structural activities which highlight important aspects of Korean music. This study aims to analyze the extent to which the learning activities of the 7th Elementary Curriculum coordinate with song materials included in music textbooks. The results may be used to direct and improve the selection of Korean song materials and learning content of the music textbooks used in elementary schools by the revised curriculum of 2007. In the Korean music theory section, the content, for example, a based beat, the structures of Jandan, the patterns of Jandan, Buchimsae, the accents of Jandan, the changes of the accents of Jandan, Hanbae, the change of Hanbae, and breath can be selected for forming the concepts of Jandan. These concepts should convey the feeling of Jangdan to students through the use of plays and body expression. For teaching the melody of Korean folk songs and traditional children songs, songs which reveal the regional characteristics should be selected. The flow of the melody and Sigimsae can also be expressed by using hand signs or bodily movement. Scores with illustrations can be effectively used to point out melody lines or show melodic characteristics. In the singing activities section, the unifying characteristics of traditional children's songs can be conveyed to students through the use of plays. For teaching these songs, textbooks must be structured to relate the selected theme across several classes. In the playing instruments sections, Sogum has been newly introduced. Thus, the approaches to playing it and the repertoires should be presented in a concrete manner, and the approaches to playing Janggu should be systematically exhibited. In the creating music sections, synthetic activities are recommended. For example, the melody and texts of folk songs can be changes with children then singing the revised texts against the melody of Pansori. In the appreciating music section, the songs, instruments, and dances should be approached in unity, and these processes should always be related to create Korean music. In the cultivating sections, the various approaches can be employed through the enjoyment of playsongs, work songs, the regional intangible cultural assets, and the regional traditional festival. For the musical, cultural, and social characteristics of Korean music to be fully realized in the Revised Curriculum of 2007, the learning contents and activities should be carefully selected and structured.

2007 개정 교육과정에서는 ‘국악교육의 질적 제고’를 음악교과의 개정 중점의 하나로 제시하고 있다. 그러기 위해서는 교육과정에서 국악의 독립적인 학습 내용 및 활동 조 직과 교과서를 통한 교육과정 내용의 구현이 중요한 관건이 된다. 본고에서 7차 초등학 교 교육과정의 국악 관련 내용과 교과서의 제재곡 및 학습활동 구현의 적합성을 분석 해 보았으며, 이를 토대로 개정 교육과정에 있어 초등학교 음악교과서의 국악 제재곡 선정 및 내용 구성 방향은 다음과 같다. 이해 영역에서 장단의 개념 형성을 위해 기본박, 장단의 구조, 장단 꼴, 말 붙임새, 장단 의 세, 장단의 세의 변화, 한배, 한배의 변화, 호흡을 지도 내용으로 선정할 수 있으며, 놀이와 신체 표현을 통해 장단감을 체득하게 하는 활동이 바람직하다. 가락의 지도를 위해서 민요와 전래 동요는 각 지방의 음악적 특징이 잘 드러나는 악곡으로 선정하고 손기호, 신체표현을 통해 가락의 진행과 시김새를 표현하고 가락선보와 그림 악보등을 통해 선율적 특징을 표현하여 주는 것이 효과적이다. 활동 영역의 노래부르기 부문에서는 놀이를 하며 불리워졌던 전래 동요와 일을 통해 생성되고 전승되어 온 민요의 통합적언 성격을 충분히 구현해 주어야 하며, 이를 위해 한 주제(혹은 악곡)를 선정하고 여러 차시를 연결하여 학습하는 교과서 구성도 도입할 필요가 있다. 악기 연주하기 부문 에서는 소금이 새롭게 도입되었는데 이에 따른 지도 방법과 악곡이 구체적으로 제시되어야 하며 장구의 학습 과정도 보다 계열화하여 제시 하여야 할 것이다. 음악 만들기 부문에서는 민요의 가락과 사설을 바꾸어 보는 활동이 나 판소리 한 대목을 제재곡으로 사용하여 충분히 감상하고 불러본 후에, 판소리 선율 에 가사를 바꾸어 부르게 하고, 아니리와 발림까지 표현해 보는 통합적인 활동이 보다 국악적일 것이라 생각된다. 음악 감상하기 부문에서는 노래, 악기 연주, 춤 등의 요소가 통합 적으로 지도되어야 할 것이며 이러한 활동을 통하여 창작할 수 있는 활동까지 연 계되어야 한다. 생활화 영역은 생활과 밀접한 관련이 되었던 놀이요, 노동요(세시풍속에 사용되었던 음악 포함), 지역의 중요 무형 문화재, 고장의 전통 축제를 통해 우리 음악을 즐기고 음 악 행사에 참여하는 등의 학습 활동을 할 수 있다. 2007 개정 교육과정에서는 국익곡이 지니고 있는 음악적, 문화적, 사회적 성격이 교육 과정 속에 서 제대로 구현될 수 있도록 학습내용 및 학습활동의 선정, 조직이 필요하고 이를 토대로 학습내용의 계열화가 이루어져야 할 것이다.
