This study discusses the current situation and the issue of private security education system of United States and Japan, a developed country of the private security industry. And, the realities of the education system of Private security of Korea were examined. It also has the purpose of enhancing the quality of the Private security industry and improving service. Private Security Education proposed the following promotion measures for the development of the education system. First of all, it is a change of the recognition of Private security education in the solution of a realistic educational target. It is necessary to carry out the education by setting the educational target related to a practical function of a general security guard. Secondly, it is essential to improve the quality and professionalism of security guards who engage in patrols of staff to deal with various crimes. There is a need to be aware of the ongoing professional training required for vocational education, educational institutions, and other considerations. It is necessary to designate the educational institution, and to do eternal evaluation and management. Third, it is a recognition of Private security education institutions related legislation. It is necessary to specify the facilities of Private security education and to Shing the legislation related to management supervision to be more realistic. Finally, it is necessary to choose the education subject which considers the character and the function of the security guard now. It is necessary to grasp the problem of a formal compulsory education system now. And it is that you have to implement a modernized and substantial education training that considers the patrol job property.

이 연구에서는 민간경비산업 선진국인 미국과 일본의 민간경비 교육제도 현황과 문제점을 살펴보고 한국의 민간경비 교육제도의 실태를 고찰하였다. 나아가 민간경비 산업의 질적 성장도모와 서비스의 질을 제고시키려는 목적으로 민간경비 교육제도의 문제점을 도출하여 다음과 같은 발전방안을 제시하였다. 첫째, 현실적인 교육목표정착을 통한 민간경비교육 인식의 변화이다. 일반경비원의 현실적인 직무와 관련한 교육목표를 설정하여 이에 따른 교육을 실시하여야 할 것이다. 둘째, 각종 범죄에 대비하기 위해서는 인력경비에 종사하는 경비원들의 자질향상 및 전문성의 확보가 필수적이며 이를 위해서 지속적인 전문교육 훈련이 필요하다는 인식하에 교육기관지정에 있어 전문성 등을 고려하여 교육기관을 지정하며 끊임없는 평가와 감독을 하여야 할 것이다. 셋째, 민간경비교육기관 관련 법제의 현실화이다. 민간경비교육기관 지정 및 관리 감독에 관한 법제가 보다 현실적이고 실질화 되어야 할 것이다. 마지막으로, 현행 경비원의 특성과 직무를 고려한 교육과목을 선정하여야 할 것이다. 현재의 형식적인 직무교육 제도의 문제점을 파악하여 경비업무 특성을 고려한 현대화되고 실질적인 교육훈련을 실시하여야 할 것이다.
