The Dragon(龍) has been inspired in considerable roles and has had some crucial meanings in the logical construction of Fengshui Theory. The fengshui idea about the Dragon that was an imaginary creature was used in order to explain various natural phenomenons. So various natural features were reflected in the logical framework of Fengshui which became a core of Fenshui logic. And the logic also had a interrelationship with that of academic world in the ancient time. Ye Jin-sheng(葉九升) said that the Dragon is the genuine chief part through his book Dilidachengliqisijue(地理大成理氣四訣), and Zhao Ting-dong (趙廷棟) also said that the Dragon is the most important factor in the Tao(道) of geography through the book, Diliwuju(地理五訣), which shoes the Dragon was more important than all other factors of Fengshui. The reason is that it played a crucial role not just determining the scale and shape of the propitious spot(穴) of ground but also defferentiating the palaoe is really propitious site or not. Thus, it is necessary to study the Dragon in Fengshui more concretely with rational logical framework. The concept of the Dragon had been used when Fengshui Theory had been first established. However, at the time, there was no clear logic system. According to its theoretical development, it had been refined steadily, and eventually it was established by Yang Yun-song(楊筠松) in the period of Tang(唐) Dynasty. The time of Song(宋) and Yuan(元) Dynasty was a transiyional period which connected between Tang and Ming(明) Dynasty, and the theory of the Dragon was developed through Kanyumanxing(堪輿漫興) and Dilirenzixuzhi(地理人子須知) of the period of Ming. And the time from the Qing(淸) Dynasty to the has been its stagnant age without any proper adaptation to the rapidly changing society. It is necessary to research the Theory of the Dragon without pause and to establish its logic system.

용은 풍수이론의 구성에 있어서 지대한 역할과 의미가 부여되었고, 각각의 풍수서는 용에 대해 다양한 이론과 논리를 제시하게 된다. 용과 관련한 풍수이론은 상상의 동물인 용의 성질을 활용하여 다양한 자연현상을 설명하는 절묘한 선택을 하였다. 또한 자연의 여러 특징적인 모습을 논리적인 틀 속에 반영시켰으며, 풍수 논리의 핵심으로써 그 시대를 풍미하던 학문세계와도 밀접한 관련성을 맺고 있다. 섭구승은 『지리대성이기사결』에서 용을 진실로 주라 하였고, 조정동은 지리오결에서 지리의 도는 용이 가장 중요하다고 하였던 만큼, 용이 차지하는 비중은 클 수밖에 없다. 혈의 크기와 형상을 결정하는 중요한 의미와 역할을 수행하는 것은 물론 혈의 결지여부 조차도 좌우하는 의미를 갖기 때문이다. 따라서 이를 합리적인 논리의 틀 속에서 정리할 필요성이 컸고, 연구할 필요성 또한 컸다. 용론의 시대별 발전과정을 살펴보면, 용의 개념은 풍수가 이론으로 정리되기 시작한 때부터 활용되고 있었으나, 도입초기에는 구체적인 논리체계를 갖춘 것은 아니었다. 풍수논리의 발전과 더불어 구체적인 논리체계를 가지게 되는데, 당대의 양균송에 의해 확립되었다. 송·원시기에는 당과 명을 이어주는 과도기에 해당하며, 명대에는『감여만흥』과『지리인자수지』에 의해 용론의 발전을 주도하게 된다. 청대와 현재에 이르는 기간은 시대적 변화에 능동적으로 대처하지 못하고 정체되는 시기에 해당한다. 지속적인 연구를 통해 용론에 대한 연구는 이루어져야 하며 논리체계의 확립을 이루어야 한다.
