This research was conducted with the fundamental question on where the Korean law-related education is focused on and why law-related education is taught. Law-related education is available in the democratic society; th44erefore, the essential element of democratic society ultimately becomes the focus of law-related education. The principle of the rule of law is an essential element of democracy; the search for the essence of law-related education through why, who it is dealing with and what to teach is related to the principle of the rule of law and it ultimately forms the aim of law-related education research. In this study, it analyzed the effects of the law-related education researches carried out in Korea in recent 8 years. Furthermore, based on the premise that the law-related education is the democratic civic education, we concluded this research’s main points into five conclusions.

본 연구는 우리나라 법교육은 어디에 초점을 맞추고 있으며, 왜 법교육을 하는가에 대한 근본적인 물음을 가지고 수행되었다. 법교육은 민주주의 사회이기에 가능한 교육이며, 따라서 민주주의 사회의 본질적인 요소는 궁극적으로 법교육의 지향점이 된다. 법치주의의 원리는 민주주의의 본질적인 요소이다. 그리고 법교육을 왜 하는가, 누구를 대상으로 하는가, 무엇을 어떻게 가르치는가를 통한 법교육의 본질 탐색은 법치주의의 원리와 연계되어 결국 법교육 연구의 지향점을 형성한다. 본 연구에서는 최근 우리나라에서 수행되고 있는 법교육 연구가 어떤 경향을 지니고 있는가를 최근 8년간의 연구를 중심으로 분석하고 법교육이 민주시민교육이라는 전제 하에 연구의 지향점을 정리한 바, 결론에서 다섯 가지로 제시하였다.
