The purpose of this study was to explore the implications of the academic emotion for the practice of academic counseling which was proposed in the context of emphasizing the importance of emotion in the learning process. This study examined the theoretical discussions of academic achievement-related emotions across various disciplines and the empirical studies conducted in Korea. Then, implications for academic counseling practice were explored based on the contents. The theoretical discussions on the academic achievement-related emotion include the attribution theory which initiates the discussion of emotions in academic achievement, the control-value theory which suggests the concept of academic emotion, and the achievement goal-emotion model which combines emotional factors that are dealt in academic motivation. And then among empirical studies conducted in Korea, research on the academic emotional experiences of Korean students carried out based on Pekrun's academic emotion, academic burnout, test anxiety, academic failure as traumatic experience, and academic emotional regulation were reviewed. Finally, implications for academic counseling in terms of problem identification, setting of counseling goals, and intervention were discussed.

이 연구는 학습과정에서 경험하는 정서의 중요성이 강조되고 있는 가운데 제안된 학업정서의 개념이 학업상담에 주는 의의를 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 수행되었다. 이를 위해 지금까지 여러 학문분야에서 논의되었던 학업관련 정서의 이론적 논의와 우리나라에서 수행된 경험적 연구 결과를 바탕으로 학업정서 연구가 학업상담 실제에 주는 시사점을 도출하였다. 학업관련 정서의 이론적 논의로는 학습과정에서 나타나는 정서 현상에 관한 관심의 출발점인 귀인이론, 학업정서의 개념을 제안하고 그 작용과정을 밝힌 통제-가치 이론, 동기이론에서 다루어지던 정서 요인을 결합한 성취목표-정서 모델을 선정해 그 내용을 검토하였다. 다음으로 우리나라에서 수행된 경험적 연구 가운데, Pekrun의 학업정서 개념에 입각해 수행된 우리나라 학생들의 학업정서 경험에 관한 연구, 학업소진, 시험불안, 외상사건 경험으로서의 학업실패, 학업적 정서조절 구인에 관한 연구 등의 내용을 알아보았다. 끝으로 문제의 파악, 상담목표의 설정, 개입의 측면에서 학업정서 연구가 학업상담 실제에 주는 시사점을 도출하고 관련한 후속연구의 주제를 제안하였다.
