The purpose of this study was to investigate the structural relationship between big-five personality, emotional intelligence and leadership in female college students. As a result of the final model test, all factors of big-five personality affected emotional intelligence. In addition, emotional intelligence influenced leadership, and openness and conscientiousness influenced leadership. Especially, emotional intelligence showed full mediation effect in relation to neuroticism, extroversion, agreeableness and leadership, and partial mediation effect in openness, conscientiousness and leadership. These results indicate that the lower the neuroticism, the higher the extroversion and agreeableness, the higher the emotional intelligence and the higher the leadership. In addition, these results suggest that the higher the openness and conscientiousness, the more direct the leadership, this result is also because the emotional intelligence increases indirectly. The significance of this study is that the development of big-five personality is fundamentally important for the improvement of leadership of college students and the development of emotional intelligence is directly important.

본 연구는 여자대학생의 성격 5요인, 정서지능 및 리더십의 구조적 관계를 살펴보기 위해 수행되었다. 최종모형 검증결과, 성격 5요인은 모두 정서지능에 영향을 미치고, 정서지능은 리더십에 영향을 미치며, 개방성과 성실성은 리더십에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 정서지능은 신경증, 외향성, 친화성과 리더십의 관계에서는 완전매개효과를, 개방성, 성실성과 리더십의 관계에서는 부분매개효과를 나타내었다. 이러한 결과는 신경증이 낮을수록, 외향성과 친화성이 높을수록 정서지능이 높아져 리더십이 높아지게 된다는 것을 의미한다. 또한 개방성과 성실성이 높을수록 직접적으로 리더십이 높아지게 될 뿐만 아니라, 간접적으로 정서지능이 높아져 리더십이 높아지게 된다는 것을 보여주는 것이다. 본 연구 결과는 여자대학생의 리더십 향상을 위해서는 근본적으로는 성격의 개발이 중요하며 보다 직접적으로는 정서지능의 개발이 중요함을 구조적으로 살펴보았다는데 그 의의가 있다.
