This study, from the viewpoint that knowledge and strategic reasoning are indispensible in solving a variety of problems, focuses on examining the relationship between the two factors through ASPIRE model of Baduk problem-solving. The main topics drawn from this are as follows: First, strategic reasoning is essential for carrying out cognitive activities like problem-solving or decision-making. Second, the ASPIRE model of Baduk problem-solving consists of six steps: analyzing the situation, setting up the strategic goal, presuming possible moves, identifying some plausible moves, reasoning the future events, and evaluating the results. Third, the process requires background knowledge, such as the rules, terms, skills, tactics, which sometimes enables the problem-solver to find the right solution in itself. In case one has not sufficient knowledge, he has to resort to strategic reasoning. Fourth, both knowledge and reasoning play an important role in solving problems and they are inter-complementary.

다양한 문제해결을 하는 데 있어 지식과 전략적 추론이 필수적이라는 관점에서, 이 연구에서는 바둑문제해결모형인 ASPIRE모형을 통하여 지식과 전략적 추론이 어떤 관계에 있는가를 고찰해 보 았다. 구체적으로 이 연구에서는 다음과 같은 내용을 논하고 있다. 첫째, 전략적 추론은 다양한 장면에서 직면하는 문제해결이나 의사결정과 같은 인지적 활동을 수 행하는 데 필수적이다. 둘째, 바둑문제해결의 ASPIRE모형에서는 문제를 해결하는 인지적 과정을 상황분석, 전략적 목표 설정, 가능한 수 상정, 가능성 있는 대안 확인, 미래사태 예측, 결과평가의 6단계로 구분하고 있다. 셋째, 바둑문제해결 과정에서는 필연적으로 규칙, 용어, 기술, 전술 등과 같은 다양한 배경지식을 요구하며, 관련된 지식만으로 문제해결을 할 수 있다. 그러나 이러한 지식이 부족하여 해결책을 찾 기 어려운 경우에는 문제해결자의 전략적 추론에 의존하게 된다. 넷째, 해결책을 찾을 때 지식과 전략적 추론은 상호보완적인 역할을 하며, 해결책을 쉽게 발견하기 어려울 때 지식이나 추론 어느 하나만으로 해결하기는 어렵다.
