The Revised National Curriculum of 2015 was designed to educate Korean students to cultivate their basic knowledge of the humanities, social sciences and technology and to grow to be creative and convergent persons with humanistic imagination and technological creativity. For this purpose, the general guideline of the National Curriculum stresses core competencies and that each course will reflect a key capacity according to the nature of the subject, which is one of the most important goals of the new national curriculum. Those characteristics of the Revised national curriculum of 2015 were reflected in the Revised Music Curriculum of 2015. The creative and convergent thinking competency component was applied to music subject in an appropriate manner and such musical creative and convergent thinking competency is emphasized on as one of the core competencies. It can be said that traditional Korean music education has been already interested in the ‘convergent education’ approach that has recently been stressed and attempted to implement it through Korean music which is an important element of Korean culture. Korean music education has emphasized on that Korean language, dancing, music, art and ideas included in Korean culture had to be generally and synthetically understood in order to have a proper understanding of Korean culture. Teachers or researchers have conducted research that can integrate the curriculum suggested for each subject differently around a theme. On the other hand, the Revised National Curriculum of 2015 stresses connections not only with music subject but also subjects related to physical education and art with other courses. Physical education, in particular, suggests music-related specific learning elements in the curriculum, so the needs and research for convergent education will continue to accelerate. In this study, efforts were made to review curricula of music and related courses and to seek an educational direction with the purpose of finding a direction for traditional Korean music education that reflects creative and convergent thinking competency. To teach students in a way that is practicable and improve truly creative and convergent thinking competency at schools, great efforts and reconsiderations for more feasible and insightful teaching methods and approaches should be made.

2015 개정 교육과정은 학생들이 인문․사회․과학기술에 대한 기초 소양을 함양하여 인문학적 상상력과 과학기술 창조력을 갖춘 창의 융합형 인재로 성장할 수 있도록 교육하려는 것을 추진 배경으로 하고 있다. 이를 위하여 교육과정 총론에서는 핵심 역량을 강조하고 있으며, 각 교과에서는 교과의 성격에 맞게 핵심 역량을 반영하려는 것이 이번 교육과정 개정의 중요한 목표 중 하나였다. 2015 개정 교육과정의 이러한 특징은 음악과 개정 교육과정에도 반영되었으며, 음악 교과에서는 ‘창의ㆍ융합 사고 역량’을 음악 교과의 성격에 맞게 적용한 ‘음악적 창의ㆍ융합 사고 역량’을 핵심 역량의 하나로 강조하고 있다. 지금까지 국악교육 분야에서 국악은 우리 문화의 주요한 요소이며 문화를 바르게 이해하기 위해서는 문화 속에 포함된 언어, 춤, 음악, 미술, 사상 등을 총체적이며 통합적으로 이해해야 한다는 점을 강조해 왔다는 점에서, 이미 최근 강조되고 있는 ‘융합적 교육’을 오래 전부터 고민하고 또 시도해 왔다고 할 수 있다. 지금까지는 각 교과별로 구분되어 제시된 교육과정을 교사 혹은 연구자가 주제를 중심으로 하여 통합할 수 있는 연구를 진행해 왔다면, 2015 개정 교육과정에서는 음악 교과뿐 아니라 체육, 미술 등의 관련 교과에서도 타 교과와의 연계를 강조하고 특히 체육과에서는 음악과 관련한 구체적인 학습 요소를 교육과정에서 제시하고 있기에 융합적 교육에 대한 필요성과 연구는 더욱 가속화될 것으로 보인다. 본고에서는 창의ㆍ융합적 사고 역량을 반영하기 위한 국악교육의 방향을 모색하는 것을 목적으로 음악 및 관련 교과의 교육과정을 검토하고 교육의 방향을 모색해 보았지만, 앞으로 학교 현장에서 실현 가능하고 진정 창의적이고 융합적인 사고 역량을 키워나갈 수 있는 수업을 하기 위해서는 보다 구체적이고 깊이 있는 지도방안에 대한 고민이 필요하리라고 본다.
