This paper aims to explore the educational approaches to the musical culture ofChungcheongdo by examining it from the music textbooks of the elementary andsecondary schools. From the analysis, this paper revealed the music and teaching-learningcontents of Chungcheongdo were insufficient in the books although various music genressuch as pansori, folk song, festival music, musicians, cultural asset have been developedin Chungcheongdo. Thus, this study presents the teaching-learning contents and methodsof this local music divided by ‘traditional children songs based on the play and linguisticculture, Chungcheongdo folk songs by geographical characteristics and seasons customs,the local music festival of Chungcheongdo, the stories of junggoje pansori and mastersingers by the Revised Music Curriculum of 2009. The followings are the educational approaches to instructing Chungcheongdo musicalculture in school music education. Firstly, the representative music of Chungcheongdoshould be chosen according to the levels of the elementary and secondary schools, anddevelop the educational approaches. Secondly, as social studies employed local textbooksfor local education, local music textbooks such as the teaching-learning contents andencouraging materials need to be developed for activating this local music education. Thirdly, the musical culture of Chungcheongdo should be more included in musictextbooks, and the teaching-learning contents of the music be developed by the levels ofstudents. Fourthly, the teachers’ training courses should be presented for activating theeducation of Chungcheongdo music, and need to induce teachers to change the perceptionof the music. It is important for learners belong to Chungcheongdo as well as them of other regionsto learn the music culture of Chungcheongdo in view of local culture’s variety anduniversality. This paper discussed the approaches to instructing Chungcheongdo music,and it would be expected the following studies for activating local musical cultureeducation.

본고는 초․중등 음악 교과서에 수록된 충청도 음악문화에 관한 내용을 검토해보고, 충청도의 음악문화를 교육적으로 활용할 수 있는 방안을 논의하는 데 목적을 두었다. 음악 교과서를 분석한 결과 충청도는 판소리, 민요, 축제음악, 음악인, 문화재 등 각 분야별로 풍부한음악적 바탕이 있음에도 불구하고 음악 교과서에 수록된 제재곡 및 교수․학습 내용은 다른지역에 비해 미흡했다. 이에 2009 개정 음악과 교육과정에 근거하여 ‘충청도의 놀이문화와언어문화가 반영된 전래 동요, 지리적 특성과 세시풍속에 따른 충청도의 민요, 충청도 음악문화와 관련된 축제, 중고제 판소리와 명창 이야기, 충청도의 음악문화와 관련된 문화재’의다섯 가지 범주로 나누어 교육적 활용 방안을 제시해 보았다. 학교 교육에서 충청도 음악문화 교육을 효과적으로 실현하기 위한 방안을 몇 가지 제언하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 충청도 지역의 대표성을 띠는 악곡을 선정하고, 학교급에 따라 수준을적절히 안배하여 그에 관한 교수․학습 방안이 마련되어야 한다. 둘째, 사회과에서 지역 교과서를 활용하여 지역화 교육을 실현해 나가듯이 음악과에서도 교수․학습 자료 또는 장학자료의 형태로 지역 교과서를 개발한다면, 충청도의 음악문화 교육이 활성화될 수 있는 기반이 조성될 것이다. 셋째, 충청도 음악문화를 교과서에 수록하는 것과 동시에 학습자 수준에알맞은 콘텐츠를 구축해 나가야 한다. 넷째, 충청도 음악문화 교육의 활성화를 위해 교사들에게 관련 연수를 제공해야 하며, 이를 통해 지역 음악문화에 대한 인식 변화를 이끌어 내야할 것이다. 충청도 지역에 속한 학습자뿐만 아니라 각 지역의 학습자들에게 충청도의 음악문화를 지도하고, 이에 대한 자긍심을 갖게 하는 것은 지역문화의 다양성과 보편적 특성 측면에서 중요하다. 본고에서는 충청도 음악문화에 주목하여 논의하였지만, 앞으로 지역 음악문화 교육의 활성화를 위해 각 지역별로 관련 연구가 이루어져야 할 것이다.
