The purpose of this research is to examine the causal relationship between perceived motivational climate, basic psychological needs, exercise motivation and exercise flow in athletes. To do so, a questionnaire survey targeting the 383 high school athletes registered as the members of Korea Sports Confederation was conducted to examine basic psychological needs, exercise motivation and exercise flow through applying the leader’s motivational climate and self-determination theory. The measuring instruments used for the data collection were perceived motivational climate, basic psychological needs, exercise motivation and exercise flow, and the statistic techniques used for the collected data analysis were descriptive statistical analysis, CFA and SEM. As a result of analyzing the data according to the described research methods and procedures, it was found that competitive climate had a negative(-) influence on autonomy and a positive(+) influence on competence, and that mastery climate had a positive(+) influence on autonomy, competence and relatedness. It was found that autonomy, a sub-factor of basic psychological needs, had a significant positive(+) influence on autonomous motivation, and that relatedness had a significant negative(-) influence on controlled motivation. In addition, it was found that autonomous motivation also had a significant positive(+) influence on exercise flow.

본 연구의 목적은 운동선수가 지각하는 동기분위기와 기본 심리적욕구, 운동동기 및 운동몰입간의 인과관계를 규명하는 것이며 이를 위하여 대한체육회 가맹경기단체에 선수등록을 한 고등학교 운동선수 383명을 대상으로 지도자 의 동기분위기와 자기결정이론의 틀을 적용한 기본 심리적 욕구, 운동동기 및 운동몰입에 대한 설문조사를 실시하였다. 자료 수집을 위한 측정도구는 지각된 동기분위기, 기본 심리적욕구, 운동동기, 운동몰입이었으며, 수집된 자료를 분석 하기 위하여 적용된 통계기법은 기술통계분석, 확인적 요인분석(CFA), 공변량구조분석(SEM)이었다. 이와 같은 연구 방법과 절차에 따라 자료를 분석한 결과, 경쟁분위기는 자율성에 부(-)에 영향, 유능성에 정(+)의 영향을 미쳤으며, 숙 련분위기는 자율성, 유능성, 관계성 모두에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 기본적 심리욕구의 하위요 인인 자율성은 자율적동기에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미쳤으며, 관계성은 통제적 동기에 유의한 부(-)의 영향을 미쳤 다. 또 자율적 동기는 운동몰입에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
