This paper analyzed the causal effect of inter-generational family structure on married women’s labor participation by using the 1th to 11th KLIPS' data. OLS and IV regression results show that cohabitation with old parents-in-law have significant and positive effects on married women’s labor participation when there are preschool children. But when categorized by according to sex of old parents, the cohabitation with parents’ influence on married women’s labor participation shows that its effects are insignificant regardless of sex of parents.

본 논문에서는 1차년도부터 11차년도까지 한국노동패널 자료를 이용하여 조부모의 성별, 그리고 조부모와 여성간의 관계, 가구내의 자녀유무여부에 따라 조부모의 동거가 기혼여성 노동공급에 어떤 영향을 주는지 분석해보았다. 조부모를 기혼여성과의 관계에 따라 분류했을 경우에는 동거하는 조부모가 시부모일 경우 미취학아동이 있는 경우에 기혼여성의 노동시장참여에 긍정적인 영향을 주는 것으로 확인되었다. 그러나 조부모의 성별로 부모동거를 분류했을 경우에는 동거하는 조부모의 성별이 여성인 경우를 포함한 모든 경우에 기혼여성의 노동시장참여에 긍정적인 영향을 주지 못하는 것으로 나타난다.
