The goal of this study is to present the Christian values and to provide the necessity and direction for Christian character education as a way to teach the Christian values. Lately, the interest in Character education has rapidly grown in our society. It is because people today seems to be losing their qualities. It seems students need to develop healthy and well-functioning character. Thus, our government established the Law of Promotion of Character Education. Character education is nothing new. Traditionally, Character education has been existed and practiced as a form to teach values in formal or informal ways. Recently, in the field of Christian education, the interest in character education is also increasing. However, although both general education and Christian education seem to pursue the same goal in developing one’s character, the goal is totally distinguished. Christian character education is carried out to develop Christian character in accordance with the kingdom of God, not to develop values which correspond to society or culture. This study followed the same way how values are selected for character education. Christians belongs to the Kingdom of God and are responsible to find and internalize the values of the Kingdom of God. In this study, as the core Christian values, the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit(Gal. 5:22-23) and the attributes of genuine disciples(Matt. 5: 3-11) are presented. Church which embodied the kingdom of God should be the context to help Christians develop Christian character. In addition, this study introduce possible programs in order to develop the values of the Kingdom of God such as Christian education pursuing wholeness of humanity, mentoring, and habit formation program.

본 연구의 목적은 기독교 인성교육에서의 기독교적 인성 개념 도출과 기독교 인성교육의 필요성과 방향을 제시하는 것이다. 최근 인성에 관한 관심이 급격하게 증가하였다. 인간성 상실의 문제가 사회 곳곳에서 표출되고 있기 때문이다. 정부는 미래세대의 건전한 인성 형성을 위해 ‘인성교육진흥법’을 제정하여 인성교육을 시행하겠다고 발표하였다. 인성교육은 새로운 형태의 교육이 아니다. 전통적으로 인성교육은 덕(value)교육의 형태로 학교, 가정, 또는 사회가 주체가 되어 형식적, 비형식적 교육의 방법으로 시행되어 왔다. 최근 기독교교육 영역에서도 인성과 인성교육에 대한 관심이 증가하였다. 인간성 상실의 시대에 교회와 사회 두 영역에서의 인성과 인성교육에 대한 강조는 비슷한 목적을 가진 것처럼 보이지만, 엄밀한 의미에서 구별된다. 기독교 인성교육은 사회나 문화에 적합한 인성을 가진 사람을 길러 내기 위한 것이 아니라 기독교적 가치를 가진 사람을 길러 내기 위한 것이다. 일반 인성교육에서 강조되는 덕목들은 사회나 문화와 깊이 연관되어 있다면 기독교 인성교육에서 강조되는 덕목들은 하나님 나라와 연관된 것이어야 한다. 본 연구에서 기독교적 인성 덕목의 도출의 방법은 일반적인 인성 덕목의 도출 방법을 따랐다. 그리스도인은 하나님 나라에 속해 있으며, 하나님 나라의 가치를 알고 그 가치들은 내면화해야 한다. 본 연구에서는 하나님 나라에서 추구하는 덕목으로 성령의 9가지 열매(갈 5:22-23)와 산상수훈에 나타난 제자의 특성(마 5:3-12)을 기독교 인성교육의 핵심덕목으로 제시하였다. 하나님 나라의 질서가 구현되는 현장인 교회는 기독교 인성 형성을 돕기 위한 교육의 현장이어야 한다. 온전한 기독교적 인성 형성을 위해 본 연구는 온전성을 추구하는 교회교육 강화, 모델링과 멘토링의 시행, 습관형성 프로그램 실시를 교육방법으로 제시하였다.
