This research explores Christian spirituality in the theories of Winnicott. Christian Spirituality is studied in Winicott's theory that includes Christian thought although he did not intend to do so. He helps to understand how to make a deep relationship with God, which is the foundation of Christian spirituality. In fact, Christian spirituality might make a premise that all people have the same situation. According to Winnicott, however, human beings have different starting points in forming their own spirituality. This study divides the article into three parts. Firstly, it is about the content of making a relationship with God. From a psychological perspective, it tries to examine this aspect that Christian spirituality might ignore. For Winnicott, human beings can make a good and deep relationship with God only when they have the experience of good enough parenting. The human capacity to building a good relationship starts from his own experience. Thus, human beings have to be loved by parents or others first to establish a good relation with God. It deals with this process in detail. Secondly, it gives the insight of how good enough parenting is connected with the capacity to believe. Winnicott thinks that good enough parenting can develop the notion of goodness, which a baby can project to God. Hence, goodness, parents who can be believed, and faith are connected with one another. It sees Winnicott's theory that good objects can develop the capacity to believe in this part. Lastly, religious experience and transitional experience will be explained. Transitional objects become the bridge between illusion and outside world, which can be thought the same as religious experience. In a similar vein, it will be said that faith life becomes the way to overcome the psychological deficiency of some Christians. Also it mentions about the capacity to be alone related with the sense of being in the presence of God. Then it deals with its application in church. Although Winnicott provides a new perspective on the psychic world, there is a limitation in applying his theory in church. This research offers a wide perception on Christian spirituality by helping to understand Winnicott's theory.

본 연구는 위니캇의 관점에서 기독교 영성을 탐구한다. 위니캇의 이론에는 기독교적인 함의가 많은데 그 이론들을 통해 기독교 영성을 다시 조명해 본다. 기독교 영성에서 가장 기본이 되는 것은 하나님과 관계 맺는 것인데 위니캇은 인간이 하나님과 관계를 맺을 수 있는 능력의 탄생에 대해 설명해 준다. 사실 기독교 영성에서는 모든 인간의 조건을 기본적으로 동일하게 놓고 있는지도 모르겠다. 하지만 위니캇의 이론에 의하면 인간은 영성을 형성하는 데 있어서 출발점부터 다르다. 이 글은 크게 세 가지 측면에서 이 부분을 다루고자 한다. 첫 번째는 관계를 맺는 능력에 대한 내용이다. 이 연구는 기독교 영성이 간과하고 있는 이 부분을 위니캇의 이론에 근거해 심리학적으로 고찰해 보고자 한다. 위니캇의 이론에 의하면 인간은 초기의 충분히 좋은 돌봄이 있을 때에만 하나님과 좋은 관계를 맺을 수 있다. 위니캇은 관계를 맺을 수 있는 능력이 인간에게서 경험적으로 전수된다고 본다. 그래서 하나님과 관계를 맺을 수 있기 위해서는 충분히 사랑받아야 한다. 아무런 조건 없이 인생에서 한 번은 받아들여지고 공격해도 보복이 없는 무조건적인 하나님의 사랑과 같은 사랑을 받아야 한다. 본문에서 이 부분에 대한 세세한 설명을 시도할 것이다. 두 번째는 충분히 좋은 돌봄과 믿을 수 있는 능력이 어떻게 연관되어 있는지 살펴본다. 위니캇에 의하면, 충분히 좋은 돌봄은 선에 대한 개념을 발달시키고 그것을 하나님에게 투사시킬 수 있다. 그래서 선에 대한 개념과 믿을 수 있는 부모와 하나님의 대한 믿음은 연결되어 있다. 따라서 다른 인간에 의해 충분히 사랑받지 못한 아이에게 하나님에 대한 개념은 의미가 없다. 좋은 대상에 대한 경험이 타자와 하나님을 믿을 수 있는 능력을 발달시킨다는 위니캇의 이론을 이 부분에서 다룬다. 마지막으로 종교경험과 중간대상에 대한 내용을 탐구한다. 중간대상은 아이에게 환상의 세계에서 현실의 세계로 가는 다리역할을 하는데, 그것은 그리스도인들에게 종교경험과 같다는 것을 설명한다. 그리고 유사한 맥락에서, 신앙생활은 일부 그리스도인들에게 심리적 결핍을 해결할 수 있는 통로가 된다는 것도 언급할 것이다. 또한 홀로 있을 수 있는 능력이 어떻게 하나님의 현존 안에 머무는 것과 연결될 수 있는지도 생각해 본다. 그리고 이 세 가지 내용을 다룬 후에 목회현장에서의 고민을 담아보려고 한다. 위니캇의 이론이 새로운 관점을 제공하는 것은 사실이지만 여전히 목회현장에서 그의 이론을 적용하는 것에 대한 한계를 생각해 볼 것이다. 이 연구는 학자들에 의해 많이 다루어지지 않은 주제를 위니캇의 이론에서 이해할 수 있게 함으로써 기독교 영성에 대한 보다 폭넓은 안목을 제공한다.
