Preaching is basically an event of communication through language. Therefore, to figure out and review the concept of speech act consisting of language before preaching, and to link it with theology of preaching would be meaningful. This article focuses on an event as speech act to conduct preaching based on the Speech-Act Theory by John L. Austin and John R. Searle, and concerns primarily on practical power of human's speech through the theory of Kevin J. Vanhoozer, who had discovered and developed the concept of performance of language based on speech-act theory. In addition, the concept of performance are classified into two dimensions the primary performative interpretation and the secondary performative interpretation to review its importance as practical meaning with Christian belief, and then this concept of performance is linked with the practical conception of church community by accepting George Lindbeck's conception of cultural linguistic approach. By reviewing the relations between concept of performance and prophetic characteristics of preaching insisted by Walter Brueggemann, the article tries to see the ultimate pursuits of ethicality, practicality, and publicity of preaching. The idea that people behave and conduct something by speaking had been widely known to the authors of the Bible without the analectic concepts of the philosophy of speech-act. However, this article's main aim is to review theologians' argument about linguistic action(practical power) based on the passages of the philosophy of speech-act and hermeneutics of the Bible, and how to use the Bible in Church community through hermeneutic discussions, and to link it with theology of preaching. In conclusion, through these meaningful instructions with conversations from diverse fields, the article aims at setting ultimate directions and orientations of theological acts of preaching developmentally in the center of this era.

설교는 기본적으로 언어를 통해 이루어지는 소통의 사건이다. 따라서 설교 이전에 언어로 행해지는 화행으로서의 개념을 파악하고 고찰함으로써 설교신학과의 접목을 시도하는 것은 의미가 있는 작업이라 생각한다. 이 논문은 J. 오스틴(John L. Austin)과 J. 설(John R. Searle)의 화행이론에 근거하여 설교가 행해지는 언어행위로서의 사건에 주목하고, 나아가 이 이론을 기초로 언어가 가지는 수행 개념을 발견하고 발전시킨 케빈 밴후저(Kevin J. Vanhoozer)의 이론을 통해서 인간의 말이 가지는 실천적인 힘에 대해 일차적인 관심을 둔다. 그리고 수행 개념을 다시 제1수행적 해석과 제2수행적 해석의 두 가지 차원으로 구분하여 기독교 신앙이 견지하는 실천의 의미에 대한 중요성을 고찰하고 이 수행 개념에서 조지 린드백(George Lindbeck)의 문화 언어적 접근 개념을 수용하여 교회 공동체의 실천 개념과 연결을 시도하였다. 그리고 이러한 수행 개념이 월터 브루그만(Walter Brueggemann)이 주장하는 설교의 예언자적 성격과 관계를 고찰함으로써 궁극적으로 설교가 지향해야 할 윤리성, 실천성, 그리고 공공성의 측면을 들여다보고자 하였다. 사람들이 말을 함으로써 어떤 일을 행하고 실천한다는 생각은 화행철학의 분석적 개념들이 없었어도 성경의 저자들에게는 일찍이 알려진 사실이었다. 다만 이 논문은 화행철학과 성경해석학적 통로를 기반으로 신학자들이 언어의 작용(실천적 힘)에 대해 말하고자 하는 바와 해석학적 논의를 통한 교회 공동체의 성경 사용의 방법에 대한 고찰과 이를 통한 설교신학과의 접목을 위한 시도가 중요한 목적이다. 결론적으로 이러한 다양한 분야의 대화를 통한 의미 있는 지침들을 통해서 이 시대 가운데 설교라고 하는 신학적인 행위의 궁극적인 방향과 지향점을 발전적으로 설정하는데 목표를 두고자 한다.
