As Environment is becoming an important issue these days, many companies are executing environmental management. Also, environmental management is one of the important issues in the semiconductor industry. Accordingly, this study surveyed the environmental management strategy in global semiconductor companies and analyzed their dynamic capabilities. According to Teece(2007), dynamic capabilities can be categorized into 3 aspects such as sensing capability, seizing capability and reconfiguration capability. Therefore, this study analyzed the dynamic capabilities of global semiconductor companies into those 3 aspects. As a result, Intel executed environmental policy after they started to publish CSR report in 2001, and they started to adopt environmental management more systematically in 2003 after they felt that it was a great opportunity. Also, they could be successful in the market after they developed environmental management continuously. TSMC executed environmental policy since 2000, and they adopted environmental management from 2007, which was the year that they started to publish CSR report. And they could be successful in a foundry market after they developed environmental management continuously. Samsung semiconductor announced environmental policy in 1992, and they started environmental management systematically in 1996 after they felt that environmental management was a great opportunity. Also, they developed environmental management continuously, and they could be successful in the market. SK Hynix started to adopt environmental management in earnest after they acquired environmental management certificate in 2000, and they felt that it was a great opportunity. Therefore, they developed it continuously, and this could lead the company to be successful in the market. Finally, this study indicated some important implications in environmental management to other semiconductor companies.

그 동안 환경에 대한 중요성이 지속적으로 강조됨에 따라 많은 기업들이 환경경영을 진행하고 있다. 마찬가지로 반도체산업에서도 환경경영은 비중이 있게 다루어지고 있는 분야 중에 하나이다. 본 연구에서는 주요 글로벌 반도체기업들을 대상으로 환경경영 전략을 알아보고 그들의 전략을 동적역량으로 분석해 보았다. 아울러 Teece(2007)의 논문에서 동적역량을 인지역량, 포착역량과 변형역량으로 나누어 보았기 때문에 동적역량을 3가지 역량으로 나누어서 글로벌 반도체기업들을 대상으로 분석해 보았다. 한편, 본 연구에 대한 분석결과를 보면 Intel의 경우 2001년부터 CSR보고서를 작성하면서 환경정책을 추진하고 2003년부터 환경경영을 기회로 인지하고 체계적 형태로 적극적으로 도입하여 꾸준하게 발전시킴으로써 반도체시장에서 우수한 성과를 가져올 수 있었다. TSMC의 경우 2000년대부터 환경을 중시하여 환경보호 정책을 추진하였으나 CSR보고서 작성시점인 2007년부터 기회로 인지하고 환경경영을 본격적으로 추진하여 발전시켜 파운드리 시장에서 지속적으로 성장할 수 있었다. 삼성반도체의 경우 이른 시기인 1992년부터 환경의 중요성을 인지하고 환경선언을 하였으며 1996년부터 기회로 인지하고 녹색경영을 추진하면서 체계적으로 환경경영을 실천하고 발전시켜오면서 지금까지도 시장에서 성장할 수 있었다. SK하이닉스의 경우 2000년부터 환경경영을 기회로 인지하고 환경경영인증을 취득하면서 본격적으로 환경경영을 추진하고 지속적으로 발전시켜 오면서 지금까지도 성공적 사업을 진행하고 있다. 본 연구결과를 바탕으로 다른 반도체기업들에 환경경영의 실행에 있어 필요한 전략적 시사점을 제시하였다.
