This study aimed to examine the effects of mathematical exploration activities using natural objects on the mathematical concept and tendency of preschoolers. To this end, the experimental group in this study was consisted of the 15 five-year old preschoolers (male: 8 and female: 7) from the S daycare center located in Yeosu-si, Jeollanam-do. Moreover, the control group was consisted of another 15 five-year old preschoolers (male: 8 and female: 7). Then, the mathematical exploration activities using natural objects had been conducted to the experimental group for a total of 15 times. Following are the findings of these mathematical exploration activities. First, it was found that the mathematical exploration activities using natural objects had enhanced the mathematical concept of preschoolers. In addition, they had lead to a significant increase in the following components of mathematical concept: classification, sequence, measurement, pattern, numerical concept, space, time, etc. Second, the mathematical exploration activities using natural objects were also found to have enhanced the mathematical tendency of preschoolers positively.

본 연구에서는 자연물을 활용한 수학적 탐구활동이 유아의 수학개념과 수학적 성향에 미치는 영향 을 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 전라남도 여수시에 위치한 S어린이집 만 5세 유아 15(남: 8명 여, 여:7명)을 실험집단으로，만 5세 유아 15명(남:8명, 여:7명)을 비교집단으로 구성하였다. 그리고 실험집 단에게 자연물을 활용한 수학적 탐구활동을 15회 실시하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자연물을 활용한 수학적 탐구활동은 유아의 수학개념을 증진시키는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 수학개념의 구성요소 인 분류, 서열, 측정, 패턴, 수 개념, 공간, 시간 등에 있어서도 유의한 증가를 나타냈다. 둘째, 자연물을 활용한 수학적 탐구활동은 유아의 수학적 성향을 긍정적으로 증진시키는 것으로 나타났다.
