Although understanding park visitor characteristics is an important topic for implementing the efficient utilization of neighborhood parks and ensuring the satisfaction of visitors, few studies have been conducted targeting rural dwellers in South Korea. Therefore, this study analyzed the determinants of park visitors’ behavior for both urban and rural dwellers, respectively, and investigated the different features between the two groups. According to the results, the determinants of neighborhood park visitors’ behavior for both urban and rural dwellers were very different, and the extent to which social demographic characteristics affected neighborhood park use varied greatly. For urban dwellers, the key variables of the social characteristics were age, family members, and possession of a car, while job and average monthly income had a major impact on rural dwellers’ neighborhood park use. To increase neighborhood park use for both urban and rural dwellers, the most salient strategy was to increase the levels of park visitors’ satisfaction. The neighborhood park use probability of all urban and rural dwellers experienced a giant leap when neighborhood park visitors’ qualitative satisfaction level, rather than quantitative satisfaction level, goes up. In particular, the neighborhood park use probability of rural dwellers increased by 6.4 percent when their neighborhood park use satisfaction improved a step. Lastly, it is needed to improve accessibility of neighborhood park, so as to increase neighborhood park use. As the accessibility of neighborhood parks in urban areas was much more sensitive to utilization rates, the suitable location of neighborhood parks in urban areas will be decided more stringent and consumer-oriented. This study confirmed the differences of neighborhood park use behavior in heterogeneous spaces such as urban and rural areas, and thus, plans for activation of neighborhood park use need to be established by focusing on regional characteristics in the future.

공원 이용자의 실태 악은 공원의 효율인 공과 공원 이용자들의 만족도 향상을 해 요한 연구주제임에도 불구하고 그간 우리나라에서는 농 거주자를 상으로 한 연구는 미미하다. 이에 본 연구는 도시와 농 거주자의 근린공원 이용의 결정요인을 각 각 분석하고, 두 지역 거주자 간의 차별인 특징을 살펴보았다. 본 연구의 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 도시와 농 거주자들의 공원이용행태는 매우 이질인 특성을 보이는 것 으로 나타났다. 특히, 거주자의 인구사회인 특징이 공원이용에 미친 향이 크게 달랐 다. 도시 거주자들은 연령과 가족수, 승용차 보유 요인이 요한 반면, 농 거주자들은 직업과 월 평균 소득이 근린공원 이용에 상으로 많은 향을 미치는 것으로 드러났 다. 도시와 농 거주자들의 근린공원 이용을 제고하기 해서는 공원의 만족도를 높일 수 있는 정책이 필요하다. 공원의 규모 만족도와 함께 질 만족도의 개선이 요구된다. 도시 거주자들과 농 거주자들 모두 규모 만족도보다는 질 만족도 상승 시 공원이용 확률이 크게 높아졌다. 특히, 농 거주자들은 질 만족도의 한 단계 상승이 공원이용 확률이 6.4%나 높아지는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 마지막으로 근린공원의 이용률을 제고 하기 해서는 근성을 개선해야 한다. 도시지역에서의 근린공원의 근성이 이용률에 훨씬 더 민감하게 반응하는 바, 도시지역에서 근린공원의 입지선정은 보다 엄격하고, 수 요자 심에서 이질 필요가 있을 것이다. 본 연구를 통해 도시와 농이라는 이질인 공간에서 나타나는 근린공원 이용행태의 차이를 확인한 만큼, 추후에는 지역 특성에 을 맞춰 근린공원의 활성화 방안이 마련되어야 할 것이다.
