Reanalysis of Traditional 'Human Nature Theory' of China Cho, Won-il Thought system capable of representing traditional 'Human Nature Theory'(人性論) of China may be regarded as the human nature of Mencius who appeared during Warring States(戰國時期). There has been made diverse studies by many scholar from ancient to modern period about Mencius's 'Human Nature Theory' which has been evaluated as the highest peak on traditional 'Human Nature Theory' of China. Most of the studies, however, can be thought of as having the strong tendance to focus on ideological methodology which was already in progress. So, this article will re-enlighten new methodology, Mencius's 'Human Nature Theory'(which is as the lead of traditional thought of 'Human Nature Theory' in China focusing on the point of view of moral-philosophy) Establishing the viewpoint of 'Xing Shan Shuo'(性善說) instead of adapting Mencius's 'Human Nature theory' is never groundless adhesion very far from the reality, but is the result that Mencius look dispassionately other hypothesis universally popular from the contemporary society. Futhermore, this is never what philosopher himself brings out to study the profound and subtle reason isolated from the reality and pursuit self-satisfaction through the exhaustive linguistic pleasure. Namely, 'Xing Shan Shuo'(性善說) contains the aspiration of moral practice of Mencius himself.

중국의 전통 인성론 사상을 대표할 수 있는 사상체계는 戰國時期에 출현한 孟子의 人性論이라고 할 수 있다. 중국의 전통인성론 사상의 최고봉으로서의 맹자 인성론에 관해서는 고대로부터 현재에 이르기까지 수많은 학자들에 의해서 연구가 진행되어져 왔다. 하지만 그 연구의 대부분이 기존에 진행된 사상사적 방법론에 그친 경향이 매우 강하다고 할 수 있다. 그래서 필자는 본문에서 새로운 방법론 즉 도덕철학적 초점에 맞춰 중국의 전통인성론 사상의 선구로서의 맹자의 인성론을 재조명하고자 한다.맹자가 인성론에 대하여 성선설의 입장을 수립한 것은 결코 현실과 동떨어진 허망한 집착이 아닌 것으로, 이는 맹자가 당시 사회에서 보편적으로 유행하던 다른 학설들을 직시하여 내놓은 결과이며, 더나가 철학자 개인이 현실과 괴리된 오묘한 이치를 탐구하고 소모적인 언어적 유희를 통해 자기만족을 추구하기 위해서 내놓은 것은 결코 아니다. 즉 성선설은 맹자 자신의 도덕실천의 열망을 담고 있는 것이다.
